Hi,

Probably been posted before (but maybe not) - I was just wondering if anyone has first hand experience of what kind of difference in performance a slime innertube may take on me as a biker? I.e. Slime inners give off extra weight, If i have an average speed of 15.0 MPH with slime tyres, could i expect a difference with regular lighter inners? What kind of difference would i be looking at?

Yes you will be quicker with regular tubes, how much? how long is a piece of string? You will notice the difference when accelerating and going up hills. Unless you are getting a large number of punctures in which case change your tyres I'd go for regular tubes. I've only ever used slime tubes on a mountain bike I used for trails and going to work and back

  • I've just put slime tape on my trailer as I use it for trips to the allotment and there are a lot of hawthorn bushes there.

I have Tuffy Tape on my bike and have had for many years. I don't even think its available now. However, I've never had a puncture since fitting it.

I have a vague recollection that there was a problem reported with it, but I've never experienced a problem with Tuffy tape.

i have slime innertubes and, i'm not sure i should say this in case i jinx myself, but haven't had a p******e for over a year.

this is because of the slime? maybe.

because i pump my tyres to max pressure? maybe

    just lucky? maybe?

who knows. whatever i'm really glad because i always struggle changing my tyres and ruining my finger nails!
