Cheers to both of you, the frame arrived this morning. I remember them from my youth, and that faint pang of 'I want one!' kicked in ad I opened it up this morning.

    Couple of Questions
1)What was the issue with the bottom bracket?
    2) Can I simply replace it with a new one?
3)Where can I get long drop brakes from /preferably on line.

I was think ing of getting the right wheels for it, however I can imagine that that will become less and less sustainable, tyres etc, as time goes by.

    Thanks again

UFB - the bottom bracket is unthreaded and cannot be replaced (bearings can though, i believe they're available from SJS Cycles) so it will likely need a visit to a frame builder to tap it. I didn't want to go to the bother myself because it was too big for me anyway; hence the giveaway!

So, the BB shell is threadless?

I have used threaded BBs in the past, this kind of thing. Would that work or have I misunderstood?

Hadn't considered that! No idea as to how that might work to be honest - best to get a professional opinion on removing the existing BB.

ok, will pop it up to the LBS, see what he makes of it, might need to go and see someone in a more traditional LBS, older.
