I particularly like the way that levers and calipers with 'SRAM' written on them in large letters are described as being Campag. The way the wheels magically morph between Aksiums and Khamsins between the pictures is pretty clever too.

I can assure you I am not plugging stuff on E Bay if anything I would advise people to stear well clear. The bike seems cheap for a carbon frame and I wondered if anyone could tell me what the catch was

It looks like it's trying to be a Pinarello. That doesn't necessarily make it bad of course, just ugly.

They spell "guarantee" wrong. Simon has a good point about the "SRAM" on the levers, looks well dodgy to me.

this bike is originally from a dutch supplier, made in Italy, it comes in 2 models one with SRAM rival equipment one with campagnolo, hence mixup in photos on ebay It's a Racefiets 4US Indianapolis 4 bike. See full details on both bikes on http://www.fietssportief.nl/racefietsen-20.pagina.
It looks to be a good deal for the money from a good Italian factory Esperia Torpado Fondri‰st in Itali‰
• funny, i was looking at the exact same bike on e-bay this evening and also a cheaper version by the same company.

It looks like one of those adds you find in the sunday papers for
"incredible quality, brand name bikes, wharehouse clearance"
with two matching marks and spencers models sitting astride them grinning like idiots.

The bike looks not just ugly but UGLY

if the components are what they say they are though it mike be quite a good bike. Just that it looks like something that a dodgy polish market trader would offer you.

it may have been hand-polished by valverde, but it still looks ugly, and i still
wouldn't touch it with a 5h1tty stick.

• Almost certainly just as good as a Pinarello, just less profit! I rather like the looks. And doesn't strike me as a scam. Of course, those of us blessed with the means to indulge a philanthropic desire to give vast amounts of money to a manufacturer, an importer AND an LBS just for a fivers worth of decals, will no doubt mock! But then it's easy to mock...

Hi I looked at this bike a few times, in the end I got a Focus Cayo from Wiggle. The Focus is œ999 with a œ100 of gear thrown in. I am no expert but it is a great bike with great reviews.

Just bought two of the PROF 28" Carbon Road Bike Campagnolo 20 gear Veloce bikes from ebay. Paid on the wednesday, bikes arrived from Germany by parceline on Saturday. Brilliant bike, campagnolo groupset, campag hubs, wheels, shimano chain, seatpost, excellent high quality carbon frame. Friend owns a bike shop, he can't buy a frame this good for under œ1500 Absolute bargain not to be missed!!!

the catch is that the bike is in "germany" and will probably cost you about œ200 in customs charges before you get it!

mrtz3 what are you taking about?? You must be REALLY tall if you've bought 28" bikes. Nice that they had Campag groupsets and Shimano chains. Shimano seatposts too, lovely.[;)]

My thoughts on this:

When you buy a bike from a well known manufacturer through a LBS you may be paying all the markups in the distribution chain but those bikes are likely to be distributed internationally. Hence the manufacturer sells many more than the small importer you buy direct from. The well known manufacturer can afford to put money into design and quality manufacturing.

When you consider how many bike say Specialized sell worldwide it explains how they can refine their designs and they will avoid jeopardising their reputation by producing low quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if the user IDs 'spur99' and 'mrtz3' are both operated by the same person / company.
