How best to clean a white saddle bag?

Postby rodgers73 » Sat May 18, 2013 21:50 pm

It's an Altura nylon/synthetic bag that fastens on with vecro straps in the usual style. The white panels have got pretty grubby with ground in road dirt etc.

Best way to get this scrubbed up? I wondered about washing powder or maybe dishwater powder and a scrubbing brush? Something powerful I expect.

Empty it and stick it, with clothes, in the washing machine.

Cheers

Stew

I've cleaned so many leather and cloth interiors (cars) with non-scented baby wipes and has always done a near perfect job. Use the cheapest ones as they tend to be the best for cleaning.

Just spray it with Mr muscle and then wash under sink, and letg dry. It's only a saddle bag and will only get dirty again.

Agreed with baby wipes. They get used for all sorts of cleaning in our house. Good for getting bike grease out of clothes when necessary too!

From what I remember, dried on baby snot is the most adhesive material known to man. So if baby wipes can shift that you should be ok with them on the bag :D

(the second most adhesive material is dried on cornflakes - no idea why someone hasn't found an industrial use for either)

One of the things on a bike guaranteed to get minging in bad weather and you buy a white one!!!

I would just scrub it with some vanish and a nail brush and rinse it out under a tab.

It's scrubbed up nicely though - spray on the CB and leave for ten mins. Rinse off and 18 months of dirt is gone!

I didnt know you could even get white saddle bags, why would you want a white one anyway?

My black one got dirty enough I dread tothink what your white one looks like.

I hope your bike is not black, otherwise a white saddle bag sounds horrendous!

Its white, with lots of visible scrapes and scratches on it. Next one will be black I reckon!
