Long, medium or short cage. rear mech.

a rule of thumb.
3 rings on the front long cage.
2 rings on the front medium cgae
1 ring on the front short gage.

But always check what "RANGE" the mech has.

If the bike is a full suspension frame make sure that the mech can compensate for any "chain grow" through the complete suspension movement.

Sram list the following ranges for their mechs.

Long 45 T Medium 37 T and short 30 T

Max cassette cog 34T, Min 11T
and max Front difference 22T
