Spitfire Ti

Postby Step83 » Sat Mar 30, 2019 20:14 pm

Had this a month or so just dialling in the last bits now I'm comfortable with it, still a couple of bits need playing with.

May fit new bars these feel a tad narrow now. Its fast an surprisingly smooth, been getting some odd chain slip when stamping down which is weird on new rings cassette an chain, I'll work it out. Bar that really enjoyable ride.

Thanks really chuffed with it, an no, they wouldn't something about people driving EV vehicles round it of some nonsense.

Chopped the steerer down bunged the guitar pic like top cap on which is weird but looks alright, still may get a custom one made up.
Also think I've worked out what was going on with the chain, the replacement outer chainring seems to be wider after the teeth, so if your in the higher gears on the small ring, the chain is rubbing and skipping on the inside edge of the outer ring. Old rings are OK for now so ill have to do some reading up on them as it is a bit odd.

Pretty much finished now, I'll get some proper photos at some point

Swapped out the bars for some Deda Superzero's to match the stem. Also had to replace the seatpost which slipped an ended up with a gouge out of it, had damage the inner so thought it safer to bin it off. Again Deda Superzero. New tape for new bars Cinelli Mike Giant not everyones taste but I like it.

Always seems to be cloudy when I take photos, white garage doors not helping

Haha, its mine! tempted to see if I can strip the gold from them to be honest. I have loads of them spare so I may submerge some in some coke (non sniffy) see if it just dissolves or not.

true - give it a go and see what happens - if you have some spare, nothing to lose. not sure what Coke will do to the inners though - may be worth taping up either end.

then give the bike to me anyway

Very nice scaffold.

Not sure if I like the gold outers though, and their routing is a bit weird. The 'office' view makes them look too short, whereas the 'le slam' view looks more normal.

I also usually don't like printed tape (I don't like supacapz) but yours is ace.

What are you going to do with the braze ons for gear cables?
