crank ratios

Postby underdose » Wed Dec 19, 2012 19:16 pm

i am currently building a jump bike from scratch, i have a 25t crank and was going to put a 12t cassette on the back wheel but am not sure anymore if this is the right ratio im going to get, will be going onto 26inch wheels with 32mm width, just wondering if the 12T cassette is advisable?

that'll be far too easy. i'm not sure what ratio you will need exactly but if you do a google search you should find a chart that can help you out. as a rough guide i'm running 9/25 on 24" wheels and it's a little hard but thats how i like it. if you ran a similar ratio it would be a bit easier..... so it all depends what the smallest you can put on the back is, and maybe getting a slightly larger sprocket too
