Re: Upgrading pedals - worth it?

Had 105's, didnt like them, though they are a good pedal.

Have you thought about something like this?

http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/PET ... c_2_pedals

I found these far easier to click-in and click-out and the price at the moment is an absolute bargain!

They came out top on a Cycling Plus review of shoes last year and i can vouch for their build, stiffness and fit. A very good shoe and not had a single problem with mine. They look the part too.

Re: Schwalbe Ultremo ZX

Ive got a set of both. The carbon bike i got came with 23mms and they are by far the best tyres ive used on a bike, they grip, roll and corner really well, but most importantly they give good feedback and confidence. I then read countless reports about 25mm being better and all the new age thinking ...

Re: Chainset upgrade - Tiagra to Ultegra

Ive got both, Tiagra on the turbo trainer and Ultegra on the carbon road job. There is a difference, but to get the full benefit you need to swap out the entire groupset really, as these things only really come together as a whole. Doubt you would notice a huge difference just to the chainset, thoug...

Will Gerant Thomas ever be TDF contender?

Just curious what people think?
Sky are always banging on about him, but is he good?

Did he blow the Tour down Under?

I saw an Olympics interview with him and he came across as a bit of a prat, but obviously thats personality, im talking bike rider.

debate!

Could it be possible that that the Defy is common because it is actually a good bike?

Re: Carbon Frame with Tiagra or Alloy with 105

Definitely opt for the carbon frame. Even if it's a rubbish carbon frame versus a decent aluminium one? This is poor advice if you ask me (I'm not saying anything about the Ribble, just that as general advice, saying that carbon is always better than aluminium is misguided). +1. CAAD 10 frame is we...

Re: Carbon Frame with Tiagra or Alloy with 105

THERE IS a difference between 105 and Tiagra. I will say the difference between Tiagra and 105 is the only quantifiable one when comparing the Shimano range. Shifting is much slicker and positive. Breaking is also much better. However, the difference between 105 <> Ultegra and Ultegra <>DA, from a ...

Re: 2013 Giant Defy 1 or 2013 Cube Peloton Race

My advice would be to try them both out if you can, you might have your mind set on one, sit on it, then find the geometry is all out for you. Ive got a Cube GTC Race, more expensive than the model you are looking at but can recommend Cubes in general, good spec, well built, and get good reviews. Th...

I think Joanna Rowsell is sexy as hell, you'd never get bored of her with all those inter-changeable wigs, it would be like having a different girlfriend every night.

Shes perfect.

Re: Carbon Frame with Tiagra or Alloy with 105

You can always upgrade cheap components quickly and relatively cheaply compared to upgrading a whole frame.

So carbon with Tiagra would be the way to go. Besides, Tiagra is a pretty good, soild groupset, underrated in my opinion.

Re: Alloy or Carbon - What would you do?

You only have to ask yourself one question, if carbon failed that easily then why has virtually every bike manufacturer used it on their top bikes? Carbon is everywhere, the pro peloton is full of it, so if it was bad would they use it? Seriously, the days of alu v carbon are long gone. Theres nothi...

Re: Elite Fluid Trainer: Crono or SuperCrono?

Ive got an Elite Supercrono and its been superb. Rolls well, sturdy, no faults and i weigh near on 19stone, easily handles me and my power output.

They are both good trainers so i wouldnt worry about either one, just comes down to budget mate.

Re: Womens Cycling

I think sometimes the reality of 'life' finally comes to the fore of all the 'marketing bulls*t' that dumb people believe and reality breaks free, in this case womens racing and the fact nobody wants to sponsor it because the mens racing is more popular. Women like Cooke can ring their bells and ble...
