The big question is, with the ride only a month away, do you feel ready?

Re: GP 4 seasons tyres

Put it this way: I have both and have fitted both to my main commuting bike. With the 4 Seasons (28c) my 12 mile commute takes somewhere around 42 minutes With the Marathon pluses it takes over 51 minutes. 9 minute differential over 12 miles - gotta be more than tyres involved for that difference. ...

First 100!

Did my first 100 miler today(it was actually 105.3 miles ;) Aha) and boy does it feel good! Managed it in six hours due to riding with the club i'm with for the vast majority of it! It's a ride I shall not be topping for a while though, when I hit the last ten miles it was a pain to keep going, my l...

Re: Hairspray + Alloy Seatpost ?

Sounds like your clamp isn't doing a proper job or you aren't tightening it properly. It could also be that the seatpost's diameter is too small(a few mm is all it takes), hence why it's not holding in position. +1 to this. If it is the correct size seatpost, just tighten it up some more! It's not ...

I wouldn't wear Jeans on a road bike for any longer than 15 minutes... Else you may regret it... lol. What did you ride in on your MTB?

Am I the only cyclists who takes every red light as a chance to practice my track-stand? If you see somebody in the Derby area falling off his bike attempting the track-stand - it's probably me!

Re: Rider in the distance.. Am i the only one..

I keep getting to that awkward point where you catch up with someone and aren't sure if you're quicker than them or not and then whilst sitting in their wheel taking a breath, you realise your shadow is right in their eyeline and you either have to drop off or go for it. This has happened to me bef...

Re: Rider in the distance.. Am i the only one..

I know what you mean... I have this problem too, but I just tell myself to "Ride my own ride", for all I know the bloke/lady i'm trying to catch up with is out on a quick ten mile circuit where as i'm normally out for 30-50 miles. The key is to not expend all your energy for some ego boost...

Just keep riding, truth is it's going to be hard to start with if you have a poor fitness level. Get the miles in and you'll soon find 25 miles is easily done without energy gels :)

Re: First road bike

Brilliant choice for a first bike! It's what I ride, has all the holes in the right place for panniers and mudguards, and it's not as all out racey as the Allez but it will certainly go if you want it to :) Before you buy though, have a ride on it and a couple of others to make sure it's what you wa...

Re: Should I bother changing wheels and/or tyres?

At 3.8kg I would be changing the wheels... That is quite a weight for a wheelset... I'm running Shimano RS30s at the minute and they come in at about 2kg for the wheelset, which is still classed as quite a weighty wheel however they are very durable! And at around £200 they aren't too expensive... ...

I'd most definitely have a Specialized Roubaix Expert SL4 DI2, the paint scheme is epic!
