Re: Upgrade suggestions

A good service.
Other than that if you have not identified a weak point on the bike yourself, then why bother "uprading"?
Add the £300 to your consumables budget and travelling to events.

Re: Advice required re; dog attack ....

Nice move reporting the dog. What I dont understand however is why you got off the bike. Could you not have upped the speed and got away? Or slow down and worst case be prepared to boot the thing if it jumps up for a bite? I dont care if its the owner or dog at fault, if one tries to attack me and I...

Re: First road bike ride - Observations and musings

Twenty nine days since my last ride out. Been having a flare up of an old knee injury through the start and middle of this month. Think I will lay off football for a while. Went out on a very gentle 7mile ride last night, and was very pleased to report all well. Last night was the hottest its been a...

Re: Road Bike Flat Pedals!!

I started road cycling after buying a road bike a few months back. Purchased a nice pair of flat pedals and just use trainers. Longest ride so far being 47 miles. Have no intention of going down the clipped in route.

Re: Cant remove top stem bolt? Need advice

ok think I have worked it out through logic. the smaller diameter end of the bolt goes into the cylinder. Put in the screw from the other end of the cylinder and when it threads the bolt it will expand the cylinder as it draws the bolt inside. Thus creating outward force from the cylinder to the ste...

Re: Cant remove top stem bolt? Need advice

Right. Stem swapped and in position. I now have a wedge bolt (which is wider at one end) and a metal cylinder left on the table, a sort of metal cup and washer, plus of course the stem screw. Anybody kind enough to clarify what i do next. In simple terms as i am a total noob (as you can tell) Worrie...

Cant remove top stem bolt? Need advice

Hi Trying to remove the stem to swap for a different size and I cant remove the 5mm allen bolt. It loosens but it loosens with the centre cap attached to it, and when seems to be fully loose they dont come out all the way because the gubbins inside the stem are still attached. They perhaps lift up a...

Re: Really disappointed with my first Sportive performance

Right now I'm done with cycling. Suppose I'll change my mind! Just not sure I'm cut out for long distance cycling. Then dont cycle long distances, or at least not if you are going to beat yourself up about not going fast enough. Think about why you started cycling in the first place, and go back to...

Re: First road bike ride - Observations and musings

Another thirty miles this morning, got out just before 6am. Pretty much exactly the same average speed as last time. Felt like it was just a warm up and had plenty left, well, until I decided to take the last 5 miles rather quickly. Slightly uphill and averaged just under 19mph over the last 5miles....

Who cares what yout friend thinks?
If its a fine weather bike I would just get calipers. Lighter and just as good in most conditions.
Discs might be a fashion, but whats in fashion isnt always the best choice.
