Cheapest smart trainer for disc brakes

Hi I’m trying to source a cheap smart trainer for Zwift that can accept a disc equipes bike. It’s really weird that even manufacturers don’t specify if their trainer can accept disc bikes, but reading all the specs from the cheapests smart trainers from Tacx, Elite or others I can’t seem to find tha...

Converting a road into E-road

Hi, I was thinking to acquire something in the lines of a Ribble SL-e bike for my commuting but looking into other options I've found a plethora of converting kits for regular bikes that I was not aware of. Is there any kit that can convert my road bike into an e-bike maintaining my current groupset...

Re: Trousers for commuting

I know that there's a price consideration on the OP's post, but are there any waterproof jeans that won't break the bank out there? I'm in the same boat as the OP and decided to commute to work every single day from this year on, but sweat is really an issue so I'm looking into some breathable frien...

Re: Wrapping rice cakes

Tried the parchment foil this last weekend. It worked great!

About the "training/fitness/health may be a good fit for a sticky thread?" Matthewfalle suggests, how can we propose it to moderators?

Re: Elemnt ROAM routing

Komoot does this very well but you have to pay for maps if you ride out of your local area, but at least it's a one-off payment instead of a subscription. Hurry up because there are some rumors that say Komoot will be a subscription soon for everyone who did not bought the "one payment" m...

Re: Wrapping rice cakes

Thanks all for your tips. Yesterday I've bought some parchment lined foil and even if I've not tried it yet it really is different from regular aluminium foil so I believe it will work well. Would be great to get recipes added... Is there any topic on the forum where members share these kind of info?

Wrapping rice cakes

Tried to make my own fuel today for the first time and things went very well. Made some rice cakes. When I finished cooking them yesterday night I confess that I was afraid they ended up unpalatable but no. Not only they ended up almost like sushi (whish I like), they also were a great help on my 20...

Re: Elemnt ROAM routing

I've just done as you have suggested, testing with my 10 mile route home from work which I used to test the Elemnt app originally. The Elemnt app took me onto the canal towpath which is not suitable for road bikes for the greater part. I routed it using the RWGPS app which took me very close to the...

Re: Elemnt ROAM routing

I'd make sure that you set any routes you do create on Ride with GPS etc to driving rather than cycling or walking and see if that has any bearing on the route me home option. Thanks. I'll try that but I suppose it's not going to work? Since the "route me home" or "route me to" ...

Re: Elemnt ROAM routing

Not the ROAM, but the on-device routing on the BOLT is also dreadful. Much better to route on Komoot or RWGPS on your phone. In the Wahoo app? No, I think he means you the Komoot app on your phone to create a new route, then use the Wahoo app to sync the newly created Komoot route to the head unit....

Re: Elemnt ROAM routing

So as I thought I'm not alone on this one... Unfortunately :( The issue here is not on the side of designing a route prior a ride (Strava or RWGPS as many of you suggest), but rather have a safety net when things don't occur as planned. Last weekend I've made to the top of a hill alone in a group ri...

Elemnt ROAM routing

Anyone with issues regarding the new ROAM rerouting? Mine simply gives me the weirdest route options. I’ve set it up as ROAD bike under settings but trying it on some courses that I know very well it simply leads me to unfriendly roads for a road bike and routes my ride through longer and unpaved ro...

Re: Santini VS Sportful VS Assos

I have worn Assos for years. However the missus got a couple of pairs of bib shorts with the pad that’s only attached at the front and back and I’m now tempted to look at other brands. Why’s that? Do you feel that the new floating chamois tech from Assos doesn’t work? It seems to pucker up at the s...

Santini VS Sportful VS Assos

I've been a Santini and Sportful bib user, mostly Santini Mago shorts and Sportful Bodyfit Pros shorts and pants. I've weared almost all my stuff well so I'm now with only a pair of shorts and another of pants from Sportful, so in the market for shorts. Its been a while now that some of the people I...

Widening Q-factor for Time pedals

Hi, Recently, a knee pain lead me to a recent Bike Fit. I’ve this bike for half a year now and swapped pedal system for Time pedals. My fitter told me that things are good now but to be really perfect I would need to widen my right foot Q-factor. The cleats are already installed for a wide Q (Left c...
