Re: Indoor training advice without internet

Well you can upload rides from a Garmin to an app like Strava and follow any progress on there either on a laptop when you get online or when you are back home.

Re: Indoor training advice without internet

What about if you buy some power pedals to fit to Gym bikes? Use that and a heart rate monitor and monitor your session with a Garmin. That's all you need. If you don't have the pedals then just do as giropaul said and work to heart rate zones, for the lower zones heart rate is just as if not more e...

Re: Buzzard strike

I don't think Buzzard strikes are that rare, not in mid June to mid July anyway. I know a road about ten miles away where I would put the odds of being "buzzed" at about 50%. The first time it happened to me, it had completed its first strafing run with its talons within a foot of my head...

https://youtu.be/m5IN2bDBXaQ I was chased up the road by a capercaillie a few weeks ago . I got my phone-cam out when I first saw it but I think it must have objected to being filmed. Capercaillie He was quite persistent, at least it wasn't a bear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noCWtagaDJQ

Yes the Garmin saves at the point of switching off due to a flat battery.

Nope, I can't be doing with Rob Hatch's stupid pronunciations, I note though he doesn't pronounce the Irish riders in an Irish accent etc. When you say "stupid pronunciations", you mean saying them as they're supposed to be pronounced? So, when you are in the UK do you pronounce Paris as ...

Re: What is SIS Rego made of?

Well thanks for clarifying what cafe culture is in cycling haha hipsters yes I see your point now. I still go out with a fast training ride on saturdays and it always finishes at a cafe with tea/coffee and beans on toast or a flapjack, so perhaps some things don't change

Re: What is SIS Rego made of?

I'm 39 years old and only been cycling a year, so while I basically know bugger all compared to all you chaps, I'm also not steeped in the coffee and cake cycling culture that I want no part of. The coffee/cake culture is a bit sh1t, I agree. That seems to be a relatively recent phenomenon, it wasn...

Re: Improving flexibility

After a visit to the docs today about a niggly pain he was rather shocked at my flexibility, or rather lack of, as in I can't touch my toes, getting level with the ankle bones is a struggle. I know it's not an over night fix but has anyone got any guides or advice on improving general flexibility s...

A milk shake made with skimmed milk is just as good. Or semi skimmed if you can’t face drinking the diary equivalent of tip ex. Poor advice. It is Why. Okay, having researched it I take that back. I drink plenty of fully skimmed milk so maybe I will ditch the rego, though it can be in a convenient ...

Re: Morning or Evening

I dont finish work until 6 so often dont finish training until gone 8pm and I need to sleep reasonably early to get up at 6 the next morning. I don't think eating so close to sleeping is the best thing to do as you lose some quality of your sleep but certainly better than training on a gut full of f...
