Cheers thanks for you advice

Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

Thicker spokes are stiffer wayne17. The only reason to use CX-ray is if building very light wheels. I do that with the OP rim but with Carbon ti hubs only. Any thing else is heavier and you might as well then say screw the weight and go all sensible with force or race rear and laser front. Makes se...

Re: Handbuilt wheels... the big thread

If you have the choice, I would say in your case 24/28 would be spot on with those rims... Yeah I think I will leave the carbon rims this time and build a set 24/28 at a later date. Have ordered a set of open pro ust rims 28/32. I have seen a couple of sets of these rims advertised 24/28h with cx R...

Re: Hope pro 4 spoke count

Thanks for both of your views. Will probably just go with 32 hole. May even just go with Novatec d711/712 hubs as these are 90g lighter. But I have a set of hope rs hubs on my road bike and love em. Decisions, decisions.

Hope pro 4 spoke count

Hi all I'm going to build a new set of disc brake wheels for my winter/ wet weather bike I'm thinking hope pro 4 hubs, dt Swiss rr511 db rims and dt competition spokes. I weigh about 88kg which spoke count would suit best 28/28 3x or 32/32 3x. I've heard that the dt rims are strong so don't know if ...

Re: SRAM s350 crankarm bolt

Ok will give it a go. I just thought the retaining cap would have been left hand thread so it did not undo when undoing the 8mm self extracting bolt!
Thanks

SRAM s350 crankarm bolt

Hi there I have a boardman cx team. The pf30 bearings are sounding rough but I can not remove the sram s350 crankset because the 8mm self extracting bolt is worn. I have got a new sram self extracting kit but I can not remove the retaining cap.I take it this is a left handed thread clockwise to undo...

Ultegra 6800 or force 22 with sram red 10 speed

Re: Pf30 install with loctite 641

hmm, yes i'm sure you'll need activator as al is an 'inactive' surface, without it the cure time can be days loctite advise care using 641 with plastics, but i've not read anyone having problems with it creaking with press fit assemblies usually indicates poor tolerances (al+plastic, who'd have gue...

Re: Pf30 install with loctite 641

I think the creaking is coming from the plastic cups in the aluminium bottom bracket shell. I greased up the sram plastic cups before fitting and put some grease on axle. Will try greasing up the bearings and putting more grease on the axle but I don't hold a lot of hope but worth a try. I take it i...

Pf30 install with loctite 641

Hi all Had a creak on my fsa pf30 Bb when peddling hard so swapped it for a sram pf30, it's now creaking all the time. The fsa pf30 came out looking as good as new so I am planning to reinstall it with loctite. I have ordered some 641 and some 7469 activator, I understand I have twenty minutes to co...
