Re: Reliability Rides - anyone else do them?

Loving hearing about other people's experiences with these rides. Glad to hear everyone else seems to suffer as much as I do when I find myself in an overly ambitious group too!!!

Re: Reliability Rides - anyone else do them?

Its that time of year! Does anyone else roll up to their local reliability with great expectations and then rudely discover just how unfit they are? I'm surprised how many people haven't heard of them before, let alone done them. We are lucky we have got a few good ones round here (not so much choi...

Re: Reliability Rides - anyone else do them?

For some reason I think I used to ride the Hell of the Ashdown route for £2.50. Pretty sure it used to be a reliability back in the old days, probably starting from Green Street Green but my memory fails me.
Great route btw, especially up The Wall!

Re: Halfords British Cycling discount to change

If its a straight choice between BC and CyclingUK (CTC) membership then CyclingUK wins every time for me. I'd rather the funds go towards campaigning for everyone to have safe cycling rather than funds going to elite sports events. Anything that helps get the UK on a bike is going to be a winner in ...

Re: Getting cramp after rides! HELP!

Go slower. You'll start to work out when a cramp is 'due', you'll be surprised how much further you can ride is you let your body take it easy. We've all gone through this at some point when getting serious with the sport, and all learnt to ease back and let the changes happen as they need to. Also,...

Re: Downs Dash - how tough is 25 route for CX?

The worst thing on the the North and South downs is the effects of the rain. On the North Downs its rideable but can clog you down in some sections if it's been raining. Safe, but harder riding. The South Downs are a whole other matter though - if you're doing some of the chalky descents in the rain...

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bargains you've spotted!

Huge amount of Louis Garneau kit going cheap. You can probably hazard an informed guess why, but it still means jumbo savings to be had for anyone stocking up their wardrobe - jerseys from £2.50, gloves from a fiver, arm warmers from a fiver. There's shoes in there but not a huge amount left. See t...

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bargains you've spotted!

Anyone spotted bargain 43 road shoes out there? Got some lovely Bonts, sold my old shoes, admitted to myself the Bonts don't fit..... Around the £50 mark ideally. DhB Aeron Carbons for £48 or Garneau Platinums for £50, or Bont Riots, or Shimano RP3s for £57? Loads of cheap choices here (used size f...

Re: Great bits of cycling commentary

"THE MAN WITH THE HAMMER HAS GOT HIM" or "ITS CURTAINS FOR KARPETS" You really can't beat DD, he was the king of one liners, even if they went on to 5 lines or included a story about how he put diesel in a petrol car and had to do a commentary from a hotel room. The whole lot is ...
