Re: Get It While You Can!!..Age The Great Leveller!

I forgot to mention coming doing the stairs on Tuesday morning was a painful experience. I guess a bungalow is the answer if I want to keep cycling.

Re: Creakings, clickings, tickings, clankings and knockings.

My Dura Ace drive train is noisy too, chain not worn. If I clean and lube it, it goes quiet for a few miles but it’s soon making a noise. My 105 on my other bike hardly makes a noise.
It changes gear perfectly though, I have a KMC chain on it, could this be the cause.

Re: How long does it take to get used to single-side clipless pedals? Is it worth it?

Maybe you are getting anxious about getting it in first time, which might mean you are too tense.
Try to relax and not worry about getting it first go, also try doing it when you don’t have a car up your backside.
Find a piece of road and just practice setting off.

Re: How long does it take to get used to single-side clipless pedals? Is it worth it?

For me about 2 or 3 rides if that. I started with clipless pedals so never had anything else. If you don't get in first time you can pedal without clipping in to keep your momentum up. But I have to clip in fairly sharpish so that I can accelerate away quickly. Why have just robbed someone or somet...

Re: advice for Ski to Sea

Thought about that but don’t really have much clearance on my old old racing bike from 2000 and could probably put a 25C or so which probably a bad idea. In an other life I rode the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 20mm knobblies on a bike that most people wouldn’t risk going to the shops on. Can you find out ...

Re: A Mental Health Thread

I am anything but uneducated in relation to this thread. If you know your behaviour can be taken the wrong way by others. You can choose to carry on regardless or you can try to look at ways/ strategies that you could use that might cause you less grief. We all have issues but when we start to look ...

"Road bike" is a generic term. "Race bike" is a specific kind of road bike. You did know that.....right?

But I guess you don’t as given the wheels you struggling to get the freewheel off, were clearly wheels that no one would ever race on.

Have you got an old road bike with plenty of clearance. If so just put some knobbly tyres on and away you go.

Do you think it would matter if you had the commentary from a different day to the pictures?

That might be the business yesterday’s stage and today’s commentary.

Re: Velo north cancelled

Yes Mojo, I have literally just seen this. Looks like a weekend in Durham sightseeing it is then. ffs. Can you not ride the route on open roads by yourself? The traffic is hardly worth bothering with road closures in Northumberland... I thought this event was in County Durham, so why would you have...
