Re: Zipp 303 Firecrest wheelset

A few ramblings from me... In front of me right now there are five bikes with a range of wheelsets - Bora Ultra 35 (on a C59) RSYS-SLR (on an Emonda) Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL (on a Cento Uno) Zipp 404 (2017 model on a Foil) and Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Exalith (on an Aeroad). I'm a huge fan of Exalith,...

Re: Zipp 303 Firecrest wheelset

Talk to me about these wheels please. See they have the enhanced braking track, and are pretty light for 45mm deep rims. Bikeradar rated them 10/10 tail end of last year. Any real world experiences of the wheelset, or Zipp period? Much of an upgrade over Mavic Cosmic Exalith (not UST) wheels? Thank...

Re: S-Works Evade red hook Crit

I’m pretty sure you won’t find one in a shop. I was looking for one before the summer, same size, and I couldn’t find one in the uk or anywhere else. I think we’ve both missed the boat.

Re: How Much Has Your "Best" Bike Cost You in Pounds per Hour of Usage?

How on earth do you work out what your "best bike" cost? If by best you mean most expensive, mine's on its fourth wheelset, third chainset, second groupset, third rear derailleur, fourth saddle, fourth or fifth cassette, umpty-zillionth chain and set of tyres, second pair of brakes, third...

Re: All Carbon Saddles

I have a Berk Lupina. It’s more comfy to me than any padded saddle I’ve used. Unless you count my brooks swift which was like an armchair until some b@stard pinched it. I think the main two factors are that it seems a good fit for me and also it has a bit of flex relative to other carbon railed sadd...

Routes out of Borg Saint Maurice

Hi guys. As the title says I’d be very grateful for any good route suggestions which start around Bourg. We’ll be based there for 7 days in early July. I believe we’ll Have access to a van for drop off’s and pick up’s too. So although it might be preferable, routes don’t have to start or finish in B...

Re: Lance Armstrong

In the main a agree with Ugo. My interpretation is that he was referring to doping again rather than his campaign to destroy anyone who got in his way. I think given the same circumstances, most dopers would make the same choices again. And that their main regret is getting caught. In fact I don’t e...

Re: Shorts for longer rides

Bibs are like saddles to a large degree. It’s great getting recommendations. It’ll give you an idea of build quality, the pad, and feel etc. But you’ll really need to trial and error a few pairs to find what’s right for you as it’s so subjective. For what it’s worth I much preferred the original pro...

Re: Rapha Classic Mitts - any good?

I wore these gloves last summer. Really liked them. No padding but that’s what I like. I’d recommend getting a size that feels tight st first because they stretch a little with time. I’ve heard a few people say they’ve fallen apart too easy but mine have been fine.

Re: To tape or glue

I used to glue as I preferred the bond I got with it. But then I discovered this tape https://road.cc/content/review/169313-effetto-mariposa-carogna-tub-tape Really is a game changer for me The downside of tape is that you have to get the rim surface perfectly clean to re tape. Also it’s tougher to ...

Re: Trek Emonda SL6 Disc

Really nice build congrats. Could you lose some spacers and get a stem that’s angel is more sympathetic to the line of the top tube? Not trying to be a dick but I just wondered why you’ve gone for the 17 degree stem instead. Cheers TT and you are a mind reader, that's what I mean about playing arou...

Re: Replacing Sram Red Aerolink rim brakes.

I’ve found them a pain too. They work well enough when they’re set right but... yeah I got fed up with them. Dura ace seems like the obvious answer no? Is there a better rim brake calliper out there performance wise? If you have a sram groupo and don’t want to mix and match then that’s a whole other...

Re: Wattbike Atom

I’ve ordered the tacx bike but because of the delay in production I bought a neo as a stop gap. In terms of feel and general resistance change the neo is miles and miles ahead of the atom. Having had an Atom, then a Neo and now getting a Neo Bike, you should be in an excellent position to comment o...

Re: Wattbike Atom

It’s is 100% a hardware issue. While I still owned an atom they introduced the gear shift indicator on the screen in Zwift. This did help some to let you know where you were at on the virtual cassette. There was also a slight delay in the gear changing indicator on screen. I feel like this slight d...

Re: oakley - overpriced or worth it

I wear them and like lots of things about them but they are overpriced for what they are in my opinion. A friend of mine rides with a pair of dewalt safety glasses and does just fine. I know oakleys are full of all sorts of clever tech, but it must be nice knowing if you trash your shades it’s only ...

Re: Rapha pro bib shorts - sizing vs classic/brevet

You’re a large in pro team bibs. I’m just shy if 6”4, 78kg and that’s the size I go for. You might be tempted to go for the longer version being the height. But for me personally I find the leg gripper isn’t as good as in the original version of the bibs.

Re: Wattbike Atom

I sold my atom earlier this year so can’t say for sure if the lag has or hasn’t improved. But I think the lag is down to hardware rather than software so I’d be really surprised if it has improved. I was on a Facebook user group and a lot of the guys said they’d learned to live with it. And when Zwi...
