Re: Turbo trainer

Considering upgrading my old Tacx turbo, and as it's summer it seems a good time to seek out a bargain. Would like a direct drive one, as swapping wheels, etc is a faff, but don't know about Strava, etc connectivity. I have an old telly and so forth so would be easy to do, but not sure whether it's...

Zwift/TrainerRoad and MTB training

Afternoon All, Due to the new member to the family my time available for outdoor riding* reduced by at least 50% recently... Therefore, I've just started looking into setting up my 'Indoor Cycling Station' (with smart trainer etc.)...where I can clock few miles in late evenings and not waking up the...

Re: Zwift setup help!! (bike + trainer)

Stac Zero Powermeter is under £400 and is silent. Runs off magnetic resistance on your rims so won't work with Carbon wheels but does mean no tyre wear or tyre noise. It's not a smart trainer but I just change gears. Plenty of resistance for anyone. https://www.staczero.com/order This is interestin...

Re: Zwift setup help!! (bike + trainer)

There is no reason why you couldn't use the bike you already have with Zwift. It would save you money too. Turbo trainers are compatible with road and mountain bikes. The best type of turbo to get is a wheel off one - direct drive. Just make sure the one you get has the right hub attachment and cas...

Zwift setup help!! (bike + trainer)

Good Afternoon All, I am mostly MTB rider (sorry), but due to the lack of time (newborn baby) I need something which would keep me fit during autumn/winter months...also I got bored after 5min on the indoor trainer, therefore looking into Zwift so I can ride with other people! Re: £1600 full suspension

Yes your correct the Anthem is more xc biased, mine gets used on pretty much all red trails throughout the UK with no issues. If you want a bit more travel then go for the trance. The bird and the whyte are also good bikes, I'm just biased towards the better suspension set up of the giants. I also ...

What size wheel you got? Not sure, but this might be ok. Code is similar but 040 not 050. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/hub-spares/shimano-slx-fhm678-cassette-freehub-body-y3tl98040/ Says it's compatible with your hub? Freehub body for Shimano MT66

Good Afternoon All, It looks like I might need a new freehub body for my MT66 rear wheel.... Shimano spec says its part number Y3TL98050 I cannot find it anywhere?? However, if found some info that apparently SLX hub shares same freehub body with MT66 ??? Is that true? Would it fit? SLX freehub body...

Re: Tubeless rim tape

Ok, sounds like I'll give Gorilla tape a try. Are you having to unwind some and trim it down before fitting? Looks like it comes in 25mm width and my rims are only 19mm internal. I pre-cut to correct width with stanley knife when still on roll and then apply the trip to the rims... ..like this http...

Re: Cannock Chase - Paths/Routes suitable for bike + trailer ????

I've parked at Milford Common (+1 for the Wimpy) and cycled down to Birches Valley (for the red trails) picking up the blue route for most of the way. The blue route seemed fine for trailers but the way I went from Milford involved some steep/narrow sections of path - there is probably a better rou...

Re: Cannock Chase - Paths/Routes suitable for bike + trailer ????

Perhaps I shouldn't say this here but I don't really do MTB riding.... but have been on this ride with children/non cyclists. Start at Milford Common (a charging car park) and head northish along Holdford Road to the canal. Right along the canal to the junction (shops here) and right again. Follow ...

Cannock Chase - Paths/Routes suitable for bike + trailer ????

Afternoon All, (I posted it on the 'Family & kids section but didn't get many replies there....) We are heading to Cannock Chase end of May and looking for any routes suitable for bike with a trailer (single). Ideally something a'la canal paths etc. - with no gates/steps and wide enough to accom...

Re: Cannock Chase - Paths/Routes suitable for bike + trailer ????

If you park at Birches Valley, you have several official options. There's a green cycling trail, which is relatively short but would definitely be suitable, but tends to be completely covered in oblivious walkers. The blue trail splits off from the green and crosses over a couple of roads to a less...
