Re: Energy drinks, gels and bars

I've been away for the weekend and just now checking back in. Thank you all for your helpful advice, and the entertainment. However, I cannot get passed this one comment. I literally ready it with my mouth wide open at the screen in shock that someone would be so rude, obnoxious and patronising to ...

Re: Energy drinks, gels and bars

Thanks for all your replies folks, chuckled along with some of them! As I said in my original post I'm new to this and do 25miles on a 600ml bottle of (standard british tap) water. My partner does a lot more (between 40-60miles almost every other day) so I was mainly asking for him, he uses various ...

Energy drinks, gels and bars

What brand do you use, and for what distance rides? I heard some very convincing spiel from a Torq rep at a recent event but obviously from a very biased standpoint. I'm new to this and my longest ride so far is just over 25miles, I just take one 600ml bottle of water. My partner cycles a lot more a...

Export Strava route to Garmin Touring Plus?

Hi All, I'm sure it's possible but how can I get a route from Strava to my Garmin Edge Touring Plus? Strava gives me the option to export as a .gpx or.tcx but the Touring seems to want them as a .fit? I am copying and pasting them into my Garmin Courses folder where I can see other courses planned o...

Re: Navigation?

Sorry perhaps I wasn't clear. I am after advice on whether I should use my phone or buy a garmin or similar type device. I know the idea of just going wherever the breeze takes you might appeal to some but for me it does not, I need thought-out plans! I always seem to end up on a ridiculously busy r...

Navigation?

I'm new to road cycling, and geography has never been my strong point, I live in a fairly rural area where every turn looks the same, more fields etc! I look at Strava at home, plan a route in my head, then completely forget it when I'm out. Is there a way I can use strava like a Satnav if I buy som...

Hybrid bike with road bars?

Hi folks I'm after some advice... I ride a Trek Lexa SL 2015 usually but am looking for something a bit more casual for nipping in to town, family rides (6yr old son never gonna keep up with the trek and riding it slowly is not fun/comfortable!), pub lunch rides etc - not all lycra clad flat out run...

Re: Female riders are you on female bikes?

I have been reading this post with interest as a new lady rider! I am 5ft3 but have very long arms, after testing various bikes I have finally settled on a Trek Lexa SL 2015 which should be arriving Wednesday (yay!) in a 52cm frame. I was however very frustrated going round various shops and finding...
