Re: Cycling Holiday - South Mallorca or Mainland Spain?

Are there enough good rides in Tenerife besides climbing Teide from around Los Christianos, to keep you busy for a week? Yes you can do a week in Tenerife. You need a car tho, not like Puerto Pollensa. Teide is a good ride and there are some cracking climbs to west towards Beuna Vista. The north al...

Re: Cycling jacket

Castelli Perfetto. On its own at the upper temps and with a merino baselayer at the lower temps. Same. Then with packable waterproof for wet (or cold descents to keep all the wind off) and buff/warm gloves as required for lower temperatures. I don't think I wore a jacket other than the waterproof l...

Re: Tyre pressure loss - what's going on?

Then again I am a civil engineer, what do I know? You’ll know how to pour concrete...? Yup :D, amongst a few other things. Please can you make more effort to make motorway bridges and multi-storey car parks more attractive in future. You are asking an engineer to consider form rather than function!...

Re: Tyre pressure loss - what's going on?

Wiggle? Probably Merlin. Nope. Merlin doesn't deliver here but Wiggle does, so Wiggle. I blame Merlin for not delivering to the middle east in that case. Culpable at least. Fair point. I'll raise this with Merlin next time I order something from them :D I wonder if I order from Wiggle and have it d...

Re: Tyre pressure loss - what's going on?

Maybe an engineer but you first reply doesn’t come across as very civil. Nothing in your first post to point to you being aware of CO2 and butyl tubes hence the replies you got. Not sure what is not civil about my reply and I profusely apologise for not declaring my full knowledge and understanding...

Re: Tyre pressure loss - what's going on?

I was aware of the incompatibility of CO2 and some inner tube materials but it was the speed of deflation which bothered me. 24-36 hours and the tyre was soft enough to press the tyre onto the inner wheel surface. When I have used CO2 previously it has taken the best part of the week to achieve that...

Tyre pressure loss - what's going on?

I recently moved to the middle east and getting out for a ride hasn't been that easy because of the extreme heat. I managed it 2 weekends ago. I had to rely on a CO2 cannister to get my tyres up to pressure as I hadn't bought a track pump at that point and I couldn't get enough pressure with the poc...

Re: Does anyone ever moderate the forum?

Tell you what. Let us make this a subscription forum where we pay for it then we can justify complaint. Worrying about moderation - take a look at the Cake Stop - it is probably illegal. Go for it and watch the membership drop faster than a very fast thing. There is nothing here which cannot be obt...

Re: hip problems which type of pedal to choose? spd, look, shimano?

Probably worth getting a bike fit from someone who knows how to deal with such issues. Why don't you stick with Look? This would be my advice as well. No point changing the pedals until you are certain your bike is set up correctly. Even a slight position change can make a huge difference. Might no...

Re: Bike wash?

Baby wipes, as cheap as you can find just don't flush down the bog. hmm, but an environmental disaster, not just drain blockers. And they may work for a light clean of a dusty bike, but full on crap from a winter ride in wet weather? PP Compared to the chemicals being suggested in other posts the w...

Re: Biking Barn - Anyone used them?

I haven't used them but looking at the their website there is some good points and some not so good points. They publish a returns policy and provide proper contact details - address and telephone number. The downside is the address is a residential address, this can be confirmed using Google Street...
