Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

You could see everyone’s breath. Was cold. Can second that it was cold. Quite windy too at times. After multiple trips into the outdoor shop my daughter ended up wearing a thermal base layer, t-shirt, thick fleece, thick gilet, ski jacket and gloves, as well as her waterproof trousers over her jean...

Interesting cameo from the other end of the sport today, btw - Chile's sole female rider queuing, along with her bike - still with the race number displayed, for the train back towards York. Seemed fairly chipper, but I felt for her.

Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

So I am prepping myself for a by-the-road endurance event of my own. Being the proper townboy I lack things like water proofs so I will be in my leather city boots and a mack like some sh!t inspector gadget with no gadgets or hair. Am expecting a fairly selective race with lots of punctures and cra...

Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

Looks like it was one of the rare races where it was more exciting in the crowd trying to work out what was going on than watching on TV when you can actually see it! We were camped at the 200m mark with my daughter literally sitting on the marker post but it was almost impossible to hear the commen...

Will be interesting to see which bike manufacturer claims their bike 'won' the ITT World Title...... The mechanics had a spare BMC TT bike (still branded) with Aus colour go faster stripes at the Aus team bus. Thy hid it behind some wheels after a while. Didn’t notice what was on top of his team ca...

Looked proper grim out there today, I’m glad I chose to go tomorrow instead! Just need to work out where to watch. Anybody know when the start list for the men’s is likely to be released? You going to Harrogate or out on the road? I've managed to move some meetings around and take the afternoon off...

Oh and 3 Danes in the top ten u23. Told you the vikings were coming.

Yeah, well, good day for longboats, wasn't it?

Yeah. Those ones were held on a shortish circuit around Harrogate, today's are starting in RIpon and go across country.

Good point about the light, I suppose - might be much easier to see on camera.

Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

Those are horrendous crashes, even if the riders are ok. Imagine the balls of hammering it into a puddle as deep as the hubs on the tri bars at 50K. I get that there's a racing line to corners, and the outside was off-camber, but really can't fathom the decision to ride into the middle of a puddle ...

Unless visibility was less than 100m they may have been the only one not breaking the law (assuming they had some form of lighting). Nope, no lights at all. And visibility was a lot less than 50m at times, let alone 100m - it's horrible out there. It was so bad that Audis even started using indicat...

Don't know what the weather is like in the Ripon/Harrogate area at the moment (Met Office reports looks wet) but I hope it isn't as bad as down in not so sunny Surrey at the moment. Not exactly good TT weather. Have just driven from York to Wakefield and it's awful - standing water on the roads in ...

Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

Watched on tv but was not expecting a lot. But I thought it worked quite well. The main problem is the amount of time it takes to wait for each wave to complete before the next ones start. Young GB team did well. Bauke Mollema was the happiest man in Yorkshire. And there were cows! I suspect that w...

Went over to Harrogate for today's racing with my daughters. Had a good walk around the team buses, wished good luck to a couple of riders, then went into the fan zone to explore. Nearly got kicked out the Rapha store for claiming 'rapha' was Latin for 'stick an extra thirty percent on the price tag...

Haven't checked any results for the paracycling, but it sounds like the sides of the road saw Yorkshire's now traditional reaction to a bike race going past if this tweet from Colin Lynch (aka Pokerface of this parish) is anything to go by: Wow. Just wow. Thanks to all the people in Tadcaster, Harro...
