Re: Parts availability and upgrades for a 2010 bike

Should be fine. I ride a 2 by 10 26 inch Boardman. Don't feel the need to replace a perfectly good bike just because fashion changes.

Be careful if you decide to open the casing . Springs inside and a pig to reassemble.

Re: Upgrade Continental Mountain King?

The wired ones on my 26 inch Boardman pro carbon were awful for grip. I went tubeless with bontrager xr4 team issue . The difference is massive.

Re: New Groupset Advice

I wouldn't. You could get a new Boardman with sram 1 x11 gearing and air fork if you save a bit more. You would notice a wheel upgrade far more in my experience. Use what you have until it wears out and then consider upgrading. 2 months isn't a lot of riding.

Re: Al or cf

I was concerned about my carbon frame 6 years ago. After my 1st couple of offs it was never an issue. It still looks and rides as well as the day I got it.

Re: Forks lost all pressure

My first thought is the Schrader valve is faulty or loose. On a new bike I would be back to dealer and not delving any further than that.

Re: new tyre recommendations

Bontrager xr4 team issue. I run them on stans crest for similar conditions to you year round. Replaced mountain king. They are really predictable and confidence inspiring. Easy tubeless with a track pump on the crest rim. Well reviewed. I run 2.20 front and back. Bike a 26 inch Boardman pro carbon h...

Re: Is my derailleur or hanger bent?

Halfords sell hangers for not much cash. As above though if it is just 1 cog affected then minor cable tension tweak or b tension and limit screw adjustments will sort it.Work methodically and turn screws quarter turn max. Often you can get things right in a stand and find you need to tweak things w...

Re: SRAM 10sp gripshift

As far as i know yes. I put them with my x9 mech and really like them. By the way they come with inner cable attached which are good quality. Double check your brake fittment as it can be fiddly setting up for one finger use...at least it was with avid elixer.I would not go back to triggers the acti...

Re: RochShoxs service schedule and flex mod

I did SID o rings as had negative chamber air leak. 24 mm socket and circlip pliers needed i used motorcycle fork oil which was much cheeper. A syringe is handy easily obtained from pharmacy. Use Sram website to get bits correct. Diy easy make sure work area clean take phone photos if needed for rea...

Re: Which pedals/cleats to buy for a novice?

Having tried road pedals that came with a bike I reverted to mountain. I preferred the action and the ease of moving around off the bike. Shimano m520 would be my advice.

Re: A couple of quick questions about mechs

Unless you change the rear cassette then mech length stays the same. Regarding the rear derailleur I wouldn't be in a hurry to change it. If you really want to spend money I would say changing the shifters would give you more improvement .you would need to stay with sram . X9 shifters just feel bett...

Best upgrade I made was crest hope. They really do make a difference. For what it's worth xr3 will mount easily if you go tubeless
