Re: Silly commuting racing

Rode part of the way with abfg, but I got a tailwind and truck assisted tow up Balham Hill, and hit the lights at the top. Heavy tailwind found me in the bigger ratios, which always makes me feel happy... In the slow bit round the E&C avoid route, I had to brake on two occasions to avoid some o...

Re: Silly commuting racing

My front tubeless tyre has also been playing up, can't find a hole so wonder if the valve is very slowly leaking air. To be fair the tyre needs changing anyway so this'll force me to get it done this weekend. Have popped another wheel in for now, only downside is it is shod with a Specialized Armadi...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Slightly later departure form home this morning (youngest son's birthday) led me to being caught up in choppergeddon most of my way to work. I find it incredible how people are utterly incapable of riding a bike in a straight line - it really isn't a difficult skill to grasp, and quite frankly if I ...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Had a guy valiantly trying to stick to my back wheel this evening from Vauxhall Bridge to Chelsea Bridge. On a couple of occasions he pulled out to overtake, realised he couldn’t and slipped back again. Best bit was that I could hear him huffing and puffing and then eventually he popped. What time....

Re: Silly commuting racing

...What do you mean about the idro? I've had mine for ~20 months now, apart from a hole in the elbow when I came off on ice in Brixton, it's done ok - not sure it's worth the RRP but mine was a gift... Welcome back to the forum George, glad to see you're mended. (For the record, George in his full-...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Left the office at 9.45pm last night, rain was hammering down and the headwind was not welcome. Some of the puddles on the roads were ridiculous, at least there was little traffic to navigate through. Was completely knackered by the time I got home.

Re: Disc Brake Rub When Out Of The Saddle

I get the same on my CX bike (Cannondale CAADX) but it is relatively minor rubbing and I have to be giving it a fair amount of welly for it to happen.

Re: Silly commuting racing

Front brake pads (disk) were so worn down yesterday they smoked when I had to pull on the anchors. Three bike shops later I found a replacement set. Agree with you that those e-trike things are an absolute menace Legs are tired today, the combination of a daily soaking and headwinds hasn't been a go...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Riding from Pen Ponds towards Ham last night I spotted a guy ahead who was clearly going for it. I'm normally quite restrained when it comes to SCR, but I had plenty left in the legs after a pootly commute, and this guy was all over his bike like Djamolidine Abdoujaparov trying to ride a pursuit. W...

Re: Silly commuting racing

I thought the chill this morning would reduce the number of summer cyclists on the road, but just the opposite - Embankment in particular was rammed full of PE kit wearing choppers.

Re: Silly commuting racing

Solid two-up riding all the way from Vauxhall Bridge to Kingston Gate into the headwind last night, the chap was on a silver Colnago. Always good to share a bit of the load when the legs were feeling a bit tired. Didn't hammer it this morning, want to try to stop frying my legs at the end of every ...
