Re: which waterproof shorts?

mt500 spray shorts I've been wearing recently, seem pretty water resistant as I've washed them a couple of times in nik wax cleaner and waterproofing solution.

doubt I would want fully waterproof shorts until nearer autumn/winter when its colder, be too warm in the recent weather.

Re: 10spd chainset on a 9spd groupset

should work fine I'm using an slx m7000 chainset which is technically 11speed with 10speed chain/cassette and no issues at all.

Re: Jag wire pro slick gear cables

I haven't used Jagwire, but I have used the Shimano XT stuff with ptfe coated wire and a lubed outer cable. I guess that they are pretty much the same. But is it worth paying the extra vs the standard stuff? In my opinion, this sort of stuff is only really worth using if you have through cables, no...

Jag wire pro slick gear cables

whats the thoughts on these cables?

Always used shimano stainless but seen these on eBay while looking for shimano cables.

Does the polishing really make a difference?

Another thing never had a cable snap and wondered if these are weaker?

I’ll be using in some sp41 I have spare.

Re: Front Maxle Lever Snapped off, How do I manage to get off the thru axle?

I'd be interested to know why the lever snapped off is the axle seized in the fork?

As they should be lightly greased.

Can you not turn the axle with a pair of mole grips as suggested earlier on.

Re: Deviate Guide, ready to go!

yes they have been great but now fancy something else, recently put hope discs on my bike and so might as well try the brakes out.

headsets and bottom brackets they are more renowned for.

Re: Deviate Guide, ready to go!

wow, that's a lot to spend on some brakes.

I'm getting some hope tech 3 e4s for my bike in the next month should be an excellent upgrade on a few year old xt m785 brakes.

Re: Which one?

I’d say get the best frame and fork you can afford and build around it.

Will be a better buy in the long run.

Yeah one of them mucky nuts style fork guards will help.

Otherwise you’ll need to fit a better style headset with sealed cartridge bearings.

Re: New second hand bike. Front brake squeals badly ?!

Pads are past saving by the sound of it.

isopropyl alcohol on the disc and a new set of pads usually does the trick.

Never experienced it on a front brake, usually rear brake I’ve had it on.

Check calliper alignment, pads not central to disc will cause noise as well

Re: Summer tyres

I've got one of these on the back of my HT. https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/ground-control-2bliss-ready/p/130665?color=228461-130665 It's only 2.1 as it's an older bike but rolls well and not too heavy. Grip is pretty good but more sketchy in wetter conditions. I have Conti Trail Kings (Black Chi...

Re: Summer tyres

I don't bother with Summer tyres because the weather changes so much. Yes I agree it is much drier in the summer than the winter, but the British Summer is still wet. Yeah I don't normally but fancied trying out another tyre on rear of my bike. I've saved the dhr 2 for winter. I'm not going to put ...

Re: hope updated disc rotors compatibility with shimano brakes

Ah I thought it was rubbing inside the top of the caliper why I suggested to use some washers on the bolts. I thought hope would have checked this if they are really wanting the discs to be compatible with other brakes the rivets are still too close in my opinion. I would have run the xtr shimano ro...

Re: hope updated disc rotors compatibility with shimano brakes

Don't really see what the issue is with just modifying the brake caliper. Still works great massive power now on my front brake with new 203 disc and race matrix pads.

Yonny - try some washers first on your mounting bolts before doing anything else.

Re: hope updated disc rotors compatibility with shimano brakes

Yeah I got the 203 mm Hope rotors and they catch on my Code caliper. Planning to do the same as you. Can I ask how you did it? File? Angle grinder? Is the mount/adapter with your caliper for 203 mm or 200 mm rotors? IIRC Avid/SRAM brakes have slightly different sized rotors as standard: https://www...

Re: hope updated disc rotors compatibility with shimano brakes

Well going back to this I got a 203mm hope disc for a good price and fitted it at the weekend. The updated design still catches on the shimano caliper, filled off about 2mm on the bottom of caliper mount and it works great now. Just waiting on a new 180mm brake adapter for the rear to fit a 180mm ho...

Yeah as some tyres are large volume and so you might be able to get them on the rim but the ride quality could be awful feeling like the tyre is going to come off the rim etc. I've got a pair of Mavic en821 wheels and think my minions 2.35 are about right on these but there 21mm internal. Never trie...
