Re: Do YOU have an XD Driver on Hope Hubs?

I'm sure you get a different end cap with the xd driver when purchasing the freehub body. You've just reminded me to look for the steel freehub for my pro 2 evo the cheap cassettes are chewing it up. Nope, the XD driver just comes stand-alone. I think if you buy the Hope cassette specific freehub b...

Re: Do YOU have an XD Driver on Hope Hubs?

Okay, so I've managed to resolve the issue. In case it helps anyone with a similar problem in the future, here's the lowdown; I have two sets of wheels on Pro4 hubs, both of which were running 10mm axles and Shimano freehub bodies. One set of these end caps were inherited from an older set of Pro2 h...

Do YOU have an XD Driver on Hope Hubs?

I've just purchased a SRAM XD driver for my Hope Pro 4 hubs, and after installing I've run into an issue trying to mount the cassette. My hub is 135 x 10mm thru axle, and has the necessary end caps. The issue I was having at first was that the drive side end cap/spacer was preventing the cassette fr...

Re: Dropper Posts with Integrated Seat Clamps

Just as an update, I returned the post to Evans this afternoon and got a refund, as after ensuring the clamp was correctly applying pressure to the post, I still couldn't get past 1Nm before the function of the post was affected. It looks like Whyte spec Rockshox Reverb's on their bikes with the sam...

Do you own a WHYTE with a Dropper?

Further to my post over in the workshop forum (https://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10004&t=13093414), I’m looking for some advice from anyone who owns a Whyte frame, specifically one that uses an inter-grip integrated seat clamp, and is successfully running a dropper post. If that s...

Re: Dropper Posts with Integrated Seat Clamps

Thanks for the replies all. I've tried tightening it as far as possible before the movement of the post is affected, and when checking with a torque wrench it's only around 1Nm which seems like it's not going to be strong enough to prevent the post from slipping. That said however, surely if it's ti...

Dropper Posts with Integrated Seat Clamps

So I’ve just installed a new Fox Transfer dropper post to my Whyte 29-C. The Whyte uses a wedge-style integrated seat clamp, applying pressure to the front of the post to secure it in place. It’s rated at 6Nm maximum torque. My problem, is that tightening the clamp is preventing the dropper post fro...

Re: Carbon Damage - Structural or just Clear Coat?

Hard to tell but I wouldn’t be happy riding that. I think it would be a reasonably easy fix for a specialist so may be an opportunity to do a deal? Or get your old frame fixed? Downtube repair should be pretty straight forward. It's a brand new frame so I'm not too enamoured about going down the re...

Carbon Damage - Structural or just Clear Coat?

Hi all, So to summarise the back-story, a rock-flicked up and took a chunk out of my carbon hardtail's downtube. The manufacturer kindly offered me a replacement frame at a discounted 'crash-replacement' price, which I took them up on. I collected the frame and removed all of the foam packaging, to ...

Re: Help! RockShox XC32 Top Cap Stuck

I thought about doing that, but how would I go about it without damaging the threads on the inside of the crown/stanchion? I already have a replacment cap to go on that came with the spring.

Re: Help! RockShox XC32 Top Cap Stuck

Thanks oxocube, however unfortunately I don't have one that size. I tried using an adjustable wrench/spanner, however the cap edges are so thin that it just flexes when I try and undo it. I'm now at a point where the edges are almost totally round, so I really don't know what to do! :(

Help! RockShox XC32 Top Cap Stuck

I'm currently in the process of trying to change the spring in my RockShox XC32 fork. So far I've pulled the lowers, but I now have a major problem. The top cap (which is STUPIDLY made from plastic) requires a 24mm hex socket wrench to undo. When I've tried to undo it, the hex wrench just slipped an...

Haha! Unfortunately I won't have that benefit! As I have some Podium bottles anyway, I think I'll give them a try on a test ride tomorrow and see just how muddy they get :)

Re: Water Bottle for Muddy XC Race

I use Camelbak Podium bottles, they don't get too muddy and you only have to squeeze the bottle to use it, I have one bottle with a cap and it's too much messing about to be of any use in a race. Thanks - I've been using Podium bottles on my road bike and love how easy it is to drink (no faffing wi...

Water Bottle for Muddy XC Race

Just wondering what bottles you guys would recommend for a muddy XC race.

Ideally, I'm looking for a bottle which has a protective cap to stop the nozzle becoming clogged and covered in mud, but finding a bottle with a good quick-access design is proving very difficult!

So what do you guys use?

Thanks Nick - I tried the same thing on my Dad's bike though, and when I back pedal the wheel stays stationary, and when I stop rotating the cranks, they stop. Surely this shouldn't be happening on mine?!

Hope Pro II Evo Hub: Strange Freehub Issue

I've recently noticed a few unusual things happening to my Hope Pro II Evo hub. I've had the wheelset for about 5 months, which have covered about 2000mi. I've found that when I spin the pedals backwards when in a stand, the wheel begins to rotate in reverse, as can be seen at the beginning of the f...

Re: Hope Pro II Freehub - Which Grease?

Cheers guys. I've uploaded a video of what's happening - is this normal, or would it benefit from a re-grease do you think? Please excuse the poor video quality - I had to use an app to rotate the video which lowered the quality! https://www.dropbox.com/s/xqoefgv2np7zykj/Video%2005-09-2014%2020%2040...

Hope Pro II Freehub - Which Grease?

I've recently found that my rear freehub is very sticky - when I back pedal, the wheel turns, and also when I roll my bike backwards, the pedals turned. After looking online, it seems a loose seal could be the cause, however I've checked this this evening, and ensures it is fully seated using an all...

Hmm, mine definitely affects riding - the front wheel ends up wobbling all over the place. I can't have any confidence in attacking corners at speed because the front end is so unpredictable.
