Re: Front Wheel Bearing

Check the manual for the hub but likely just need tapping out, assuming you have removed end caps etc. But use a rubber or plastic mallet NOT a metal hammer. Sometimes they need a fair hefty whack. Good idea to have an axle stand to rest wheel on for 'tapping' it out so you don't damage hub.

Pennine Cycleway Map - Holmfirth to Appleby

I am copying the middle section map for a chap called Simon - just to let him know I am not able to send at the moment as PM system is down and the PM you sent me with your email on is not accessible. I will send it as soon as it becomes available. Hope that you see this! :D

Re: avid elixir brake lever fault.

You won't need the internals - just the pivots for the lever blade - about £7 :)

Re: Squeaky Wheel

If it has a rubber seal cover on the NDS of hub then it could be that - put a bit of silicon lube on it and it will stop

Re: Should I go tubeless?

Done two lots in recent times - no problems at all. One pr Stans Crest 26" with Schwalbe Nobby Nics and one pair Bontrager Duster 29er rims and Bontager 23.3 tyres. Easy to do - used rubber rim strip on Bontys as the spoke holes were a bit raggy and didn't want to tear the yellow tape. Easily i...

Re: Avid Elixir 3 hose cut and full re bleed advice needed

When you bleed the brake you will push all the old fluid out. Might be worth while just pushing a syringe full through then doing a proper bleed with fresh new fluid to make sure.

I managed fine with a track pump - and that was for Schwalbe Nobby Nics :)

Re: Fork Service

Don't think you need to replace damper on Fox forks - just the top cap assembly as all the work is done in their lever unlike RS. You will nee a top cap kit and a lever kit. Lever kit not cheap!!

POAH wrote:why did you compress the lever?

all I did was unscrew hose, measure, cut, fit olive, hammer in barb then screw back up.

=1 for that - no need to do anything to lever position

Halfords wont be able to tell you - they will just go on the internet and look it up - so you can do it for yourself and it'll be cheaper. I know I have done it!

Re: Nobbly Nic loosing air from sidewalls

Fitted these recently on stans crest rims - perfect - they sealed up no problem - did make sure the sealant was well shaken around the tyre and you could see the walls sealing themselves.
