It's going on an old retro build so I have built it to a new Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub using Aci Alpine spokes. It's currently showing 20 on my Park tools spo...

Re: Spoke length problem

I'm on 12mm nipples and 290mm spokes. I'm amazed I'm not getting away with 1mm. Thinking of buying some 288mm spokes and starting again, Currently got the parts all apart so I could thread a couple of more mm onto the spokes to effectively make them shorter, is this a good idea or am I better just s...

Re: Rapha Store in Manchester - Parking your Bike?

Yep bike parking inside the downstairs cafe, think they even supply a cafe lock from behind the counter if you ask nicely. I'd be more worried about going upstairs to the main cafe and showroom. Wooden stairs and cleats are a recipe for disaster. Dread to think how many people have nearly slipped wh...

Re: wheel build spoke tension help required

So with the greatest of respect with you being the expert Ugo

Can I get away with using the park tools meter ? And if so what tensions should I aim for.
Rider is around the 80kg weight

I won't be spending £400 on the DT one that's for sure., not for one build

Re: wheel build spoke tension help required

Don't know anyone who owns a DT gauge, so I'm stuck I think. I have tensioned the front upto 14-16 on the gauge and it feels about right. But it could be a million miles off..

Thought I read the maximum tension for the aeroloite was 1000 but I may be wrong

I managed to trace a company who sells 30t campag cogs. And once fitted to my 9 speed winter bike with standard RD I have no issues at all. But I think I couldn't go any larger.
