Re: Claris good enough for club runs?

Doesn’t creak yet but give it time : ) I originally post my question because a) this is my first road bike so I have zero knowledge b) after reading websites and reviews I was even more confused with people saying that they will only ride 105 and everything else is too clunkiy, and other people sayi...

Re: How long does it take to get used to single-side clipless pedals? Is it worth it?

Someone got out of bed the wrong side. Allez sprint headset issues are well documented. I didn’t know that. I’ve got a 2017 Allez Elite but I thought the frames were all identical. No. The Sprint is the aero, ultra-race orientated, ultra-stiff Allez frame, with full carbon S-Works fork and carbon a...

Re: Any advice about using caustic soda to remove an aluminium seatpost from a steel frame?

Why are you removing it? Apart from now its completely wrecked? I bought the bike off ebay for 99p auction, it's a sort of early hybrid design and want to convert it to a touring bike. It has a high quality freehub based drivetrain and strong 26" wheels and the frame seems absolutely ideal for...

Re: Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

Was taking my turn (= was forced to against my will) with the ironing and listening to Radio 4 hoping for some Hymns or stuff like that. It was the Archers - I thought it would be about Robin Hood or William Tell - but it is a load of blx farming soap with disjointed scenes and fng morons. God know...

Re: BREXIT - Gina Miller Rears Her Ugly Head Again

I would have said the Ms Miller has a rather appealing head. Although it sounds there might be a queue to hold Boris’s feet to the fire regarding perouging Parliament. While boris is always comparing himself against Cameron, I'm not sure where you're going with this. I thought Churchill was Boris’s...

Re: Any advice about using caustic soda to remove an aluminium seatpost from a steel frame?

Cut the seat post across, leaving an inch or so protruding from the top of the seat tube. Then get a hacksaw blade in a holder, or a dirty rag, and keep running that up and down inside the remaining seat post. Keep it parallel to the post/tube and eventually you will cut through the seat post. Then...

Re: Indoor training advice without internet

Buy a copy of cycling weekly and hang pages up on a rotary washing line. Train under that on a breezy day and should be pretty authentic.

Not keen on the thread title edit. Me neither.. If it said Ann widdecombe? Do any of them make any sense? Sometimes I wish the idiot would explain himself but then quickly realise my expectations are way too high. Well, none of the protagonists explain themselves so I'm not why you expect any of th...

Re: How long does it take to get used to single-side clipless pedals? Is it worth it?

watch out for the allez headset problem if you tsake it out in the rain or wash it. Somebody else warned me about that in another thread. What exactly is the problem and why does it occur? Does it affect all Allez models? Proprietary headset, no one else makes one. They don't last long. As in the h...

Re: Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

Some banks allow you to pay them in by just taking a picture of the cheque. I think I have an uncle in Nigeria who offers something like that. Buying the low fat garlic bread by mistake, it's not even butter for crying out loud. Luckily it wasn't too bad although I'll be careful not to buy it again...
