Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

Then why use shoes at all  or clipless pedals on a bike? Just go have fun and be the best version of yourself. If the shoes help you be faster, just have fun with it! Indeed. But I don't race at cycling, and equipment is inherently a part of cycling. Whereas in running, equipment has always b...

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

EK's shoes were special ones, but the 4%s/Next% ones are available for all to buy. But the ones from the weekend may yet make it into mainstream.

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

That's the key, they improve efficiency (providing your running form works with them) but mainly from the cushioning effect they provide so your legs stay fresher for longer and your form doesn't go out the window. The carbon plates have a bit of a spring effect but the cushioning is the key. Whils...

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

Is it the new shoes, like those swimming costumes a few years back providing a big technical advantage? Is it these new lactate buffer products that Lance keeps shilling on his youtube? Or is it a new EPO type drug? Think the carbon plates in the new shoes do work somewhat similar to the famous Osc...

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

But don't take my word for it, read the arbitration judgement - you might form a different view from me, but you might not. I have a bias towards Salazar as the coach of my favourite athlete (whom I am also biased towards presuming to be clean) so be sceptical about my opinions. But I hold them hon...

You should read the judgement then, because what you've gathered is not what was found.

This is fascinating. Nike paid for 9 lawyers to defend Salazar and Brown and did everything they could make it go away. Goucher and the other whistleblowers were scapegoated. Julian took athletes for transfusions and is guilty as Salazar. Nike CEO chose brand over integrity. https://twitter.com/kar...

Re: BOARDMAN MOUNTAIN BIKE BROKEN FRAME

Your best bet is getting hold of the original sales paperwork from the store to the first owner, and trying your luck with simply not offering up the fact to the store that you bought it second hand. A till receipt or similar would be difficult for Halfords to prove it wasn't yours at first sale. Be...

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

I'm a serial Mo defender, and a bit of an NOP denier, so feel free to take what I write with a pinch of salt - but read the outcome document (133 pages of it!) and I think you'll get a different impression, certainly of that testosterone issue. Yeah, if you have a look at the reasoned decision it i...

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

Beetroot is performance enhancing and isn't required to keep me alive and isn't illegal. Substitute "beetroot" with "asthma meds" and I think it all becomes clearly legal (assuming you think asthma meds are performance enhancing, a matter for which there is less proof than beetro...

Re: Upgrading forks newbie

Spec for fork says "Suntour XCM34 HLO, Boost, Tapered 1 1/8" - 1.5"" Spec for front hub says "Alloy, 100mm, 15mm bolt-through axle" Mind you, the front page spec says the fork is a "Suntour CXM34 HLO" so typo's galore! Looks like the hub details are wrong as y...

I've got some josticks at home that disprove that. And when I grilled some sausages at the weekend I also got smoke. So there very often is smoke without fire :-)

Re: Drugs in other sports and the media.

The biggest concern for me was the efforts they were apparently going to in order to establish how much testosterone they could get away with using without triggering a positive. That's more than 'just' doping an athlete. But if you read the outcome, there's no finding at all that that's what they ...

Re: Lower leg service on Rockshox Recon Silver TK (Coil)

Have a look at the XC30/XC28 service manual which has springs. I doubt it's hugely different.

Re: Upgrading forks newbie

A sensible update would be to look at what Voodoo put on the next bike up using the same frame. The Zobop is the £400 more expensive version of the Minustor, and I think it is the identical frame paired with better components. They have a Recon fork on there. Recon is a decent air fork, not quite as...

Re: The Official UCI 2019 Yorkshire road World Championships ***Spoilers***

One change I'd definitely make is to provide the riders with a clear traffic light system further down the start to focus on, rather than lights at their feet - I got the impression half the teams were oblivious to the actual signal to go and it's hard to see how they could look both at the lights ...

Re: Breeze-in QR dropout with DT Swiss Thru Bolt QR?

Isn't the Breezer drop out a rear end thing, not a front fork thing? A quick google suggests Mr Breeze invented the "Breeze-in" dropouts for MTB use, and the bike looks like it's deliberately specc'd for exactly what you are intending - so unless you're really planning on pushing it much h...

Daft question - why was Quintana in green? Bennett was second in the points classification, so surely he’d take it with Roglic wearing red (and leading the points)? What have I missed?
