Re: Canyon ACROS grub screw measurement.

i sent ACROS a form message from their website. I'm not purchasing another ACROS unit unless I absolutely have to.
We'll see if they come up with the dimensions or fob me off with some explanation regarding safety and third party components etc.

Canyon ACROS grub screw measurement.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the tiny grub screw on the ACROS units that come with Canyon bikes. Someone on another forum said it was close to M3mm x 10mm. I would measure mine but it is just about holding together (after rounding it again) so I can keep riding for now. If I know the dimension...

Re: Road tubeless tyres, where and how much?

Folks. is anybody running tubes and tyres on Mavic UST wheels. Ksyrium Elites seem to be 'hookless' and just wonder about the safety of fitting regular tyres to the rim. Had no such issue on Ultegra 6800 which were tubeless compatible but had a 'hooked' rim.

Re: Mavic Ksyrium Elite bearings. New Wheelset.

Online purchase. Mantel Netherlands to Ireland.
Yes, I used the little tool and adjusted bearings to eliminate play.
An old roadbikereview forum suggests it may be the bearing seals that need to loosen up. Does that ring true to anyone?

I'll give Mantel a bell in any case.

Mavic Ksyrium Elite bearings. New Wheelset.

Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me. I've just received new pair of Ksyrium Elites. The front wheel bearings in particular felt tight ie, the wheel did not spin that freely in my hands, When placed in the dropout, the wheel showed side to side play. I tightened the QRM bearing...

Re: Travelling with a Canyon - headset question.

Thanks for the replies. AKH, yes that's what I have to do too when adjusting the headset. I believe Canyon have told other owners that there is no need to loosen of the headset but the force used to pull the stem off would have an effect on the pre load. The small torx tool that comes supplied doesn...

Travelling with a Canyon - headset question.

Hi there, Question for those who have travelled with a Canyon bike that has the Acros I lock clamp. Is it necessary to loosen off the I-lock clamp in order to remove the stem for travel. That would apply to changing stems as well. Seems a faff to have to loosen to remove and then re-tighten after re...

Re: Shimano chains. Asymmetric, Directional etc.

Just trying to understand the nomenclature of Shimano's chains. I think I have the asymmetric HG901-11 on the bike. And I think that may be part of why the chain on the big ring is not as smooth as the HG601 (5800 105) symmetric chain on my other 5800 equipped bike. AFAIK the HG 901 relates to chain...

Shimano chains. Asymmetric, Directional etc.

Hi there. Just wondering what the difference is between a directional and asymmetric chain. I've always used directional chains and kept the Shimano logos facing out. How does an asymmetric chain differ? Does it being 'super narrow' have an effect? I ask because I picked up a Shimano Dura Ace CN HG ...

Re: 9 speed RD on 11 speed system.

Thanks for the replies. It relates to a query from a guy on an Irish forum (Boards.ie). He was looking to upgrade from 9 to 11 speed without spending too much. Of course his best bet is just to pick up a full gruppo at a decent price. Another poster remarked that he didn't need the 11 speed RD as ex...

9 speed RD on 11 speed system.

Just having a discussion with someone on another forum. They say there is enough limit screw adjustment in a 9 speed rear derailleur to accommodate an 11 speed cassette and RH shifter. I always assumed that the RD could only make so many shifts across matching the number of the RD itself. Is it poss...

I'll give the bearing puller a go in that case!

Thank you for your help sungod. Much appreciated.

Re: Outer bearing shell stuck in headtube. Help.

Boiling water on an anodized Alu frame... is that safe?

The blind bearing puller might not be an option given the width of the race. Widest pullers are for intact bearings which are narrower than my stuck race.

Re: Outer bearing shell stuck in headtube. Help.

Thanks for that sungod. Yeah the outer 'race' is how I should have described it. Anyway, I now have a list of options I can talk through with a good mechanic. The blind bearing remover seems to least likely to do any damage to the frame itself.

Re: Outer bearing shell stuck in headtube. Help.

Hi, I should have been clearer. Its an integrated headset without cups. The bearings press (very tightly) into headtube. The inner shell, bearings and seals came out. The outer shell remains in the frame. Difficult to get any purchase on it as it sits recessed. May have to dremel or find a mechanic ...

Outer bearing shell stuck in headtube. Help.

Removed the bottom bearing from my bike but the outer shell/ring remains stuck inside headtube. I know there is a Parktool for cup removal but only the outer shell remains and that seems to be tucked into a recess in the HT. There is no clear way in to prise it out. Tried ice cubes to shrink it but ...

Ultegra 6800 Wheelset and 10 Speed Spacers!

Hello, Picked up a set of Ultegra 6800 wheels online. Just wondering about the spacers needed for fitting a 10 speed cassette. Mixed messages regarding fitting the thin 1mm spacer as well as the 1.8mm spacer that comes with the wheels. So, do I need to fit the thin spacer that Shimano 10 speed casse...

Re: Shimano PressFit BB problem!

Thank you DJ58! I'm starting to get it now. The Shimano Docs were not making much sense when I saw them before but the 'backpost' blog explains clearly that its the inner cover/shell that's the culprit. The cups are the same size regardless of the model. My best bet is to bring that shell with me an...

Shimano PressFit BB problem!

Hi there, Could somebody tell me what the right Shimano model number is for Pressfit 86.5 bearings. My LBS fitted a SM92-41 and consequently crushed the inner cover (I only discovered this when I got home). It appears that they should have fitted a SM91-41 bearing. Is this correct? Would greatly app...
