Re: Upgrade time, new forks or new wheels

They weigh approx 1900gm and seem really sturdy. Handled snowdon ranger path no problem. I got them second hand, albeit nearly new.

So, have done both. Pair of 140mm pikes and a set of arch ex on pro 2's to be fitted before the weekend. :)

Re: Whytes or Marin - 27.5 or 29??

Just gone from a 26" 2011 spesh enduro to a Whyte T129s and love it for general trail riding / messing about.

Re: Upgrade time, new forks or new wheels

It was a 2011 Enduro, so not too old. Bear in mind I'm no pro though, so never seen the limits of the Enduro. The Whyte does feel really good on steep and rough stuff. Seems to be a few on singletrack who have stuck 140's on and have nothing but good to say about it. I just wasn't sure whether a mor...

Upgrade time, new forks or new wheels

Hi all, it's been a long time since posting on here.... I've finally gone the 29er route, a Whyte T129 works, which has replaced my Spesh Enduro and I love it! It's as capable as the enduro, but faster! (IMO) It's only a few rides old, but I love upgrading things... 2 things i'm tempted with at the ...

xc / cyclocross routes around Peebles area - gpx / tcx

Off to Peebles on Friday for a few days. Will do the usual Glentress and Inners etc on the mtb, but we're also taking the cx bikes for some gentler routes in the afternoons. Anybody have or know links to gpx or tcx files I can upload to my garmin 200 to follow? Bridleways / paths sort of routes. Min...

Re: Slimming the stable.. Opinions and thoughts on bike opti

Like the idea of something like the boardman, but don't want to fall into the trap of wanting to use it for trails instead of the enduro. Which I fear would happen as they are supposed to be pretty capable. I guess what I'd do is stick something like crossmarks on it, to maximise the speed on hard p...

Slimming the stable.. Opinions and thoughts on bike options

I was always of the opinion that you can never have too many bikes, N+1 and all that. However, got a bit daft really. Up until a couple of weeks ago, the number stood at 6. Spesh enduro , for general XC/trail stuff Trek Session , for DH Carrera vulcan , cheap rigid for riding with the dog, towing my...

Alpinestars paragon knee guards

These look really good for xc use, as I find the Kyle straits too bulky for anything but dh.

Only problem is, can't seem to find anywhere other than jenson USA to buy from?

Anybody bought these in the UK or know where to get them from over here?

Thanks and merry Christmas!

I'm 6ft 1. Went to the store to buy a Large PX, had a sit on the bikes on the rollers, came out with an XL.

Re: New bike feels quite twitchy at speed

Some interesting replies there, common theme seems to be i'll get used to it :) Out of interest I may well swap the stems over, just to see if that makes any difference. Other than that, will just have to ride more and get over the learning curve. I came to work today on the carrera, it feels so pla...

New bike feels quite twitchy at speed

Normally an mtb'er, but got myself a carrera tdf a few months ago, just so I could get more rides in to improve the fitness. Ended up finding the love for road riding again and wanted something nicer, so bought a planet x pro carbon. The ride of the px compared to the carrera is amazing, apart from ...

Re: Trying to build a park

Think it'll take a while for them pallets to rot! Where is this?
Not much soil around for miles i guess too! Don't think the FC will be coming trashing it!

Hey, pallets might not be ideal, but looks like it's your best option, so build, ride, enjoy

Re: Ribble evo pro carbon (Tiagra) £700

Cant find the alur on decathlon. Have to say, even though it may be wrong to say... I like the idea of a carbon bike :) Also, with ribble giving 0% finance, 70 quid a month for 10 months, its no outlay and I just may have to do it, excuse being I can leave the carrera with the mudguards on for rainy...

Yeah, appreciate that, only thing that will look the same I guess is the frame, but still should be nice.

Ribble evo pro carbon (Tiagra) £700

Had this through on a mail http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sed/road-track-bike/ribble-evo-pro-carbon-summer-special-edition?part=SE14RIBEVOPROSUMMER&sub=conf_SERW and it has really got me tempted. Just getting in to road riding, as an addition to the usual mountain biking. Finding it's doing wonde...

Re: Snowdon conditions and has the Ranger path been altered?

Wondered how long it'd be :) You enjoyed it, so fair enough. I've done Rangers and Telegraph before and frankly thought it wasn't worth the push / climb, but everyone has they're own favourite. The other 5 who did Llanberis down with me also loved it. I would go back up and down Llanberis tomorrow i...

Re: Snowdon conditions and has the Ranger path been altered?

I'm going up on the 26th. if you go will you let me know what it's like please? :D Did Llanberis up and down and there's not a touch of snow on the trails. Tiny bit on the edges up top, but nothing you'd go near.... Have to say, I enjoyed Llanberis down far more than rangers and telegraph which I d...
