Re: Your Anti-Rants here

Little Slowbike still wanted to ride to school this morning - it was raining - it didn't put him off ... We were quite lucky, there was a break in the rain right on the time we needed to go ... :) Oh - and the car that came out of the estate behind us, waited patiently for us, then stopped at the m...

Re: Your rants here.

Picked up a rotten cold meaning I can hardly breathe, my balance has gone a little off, and I've a cracking headache just before the Wessex gridiron this weekend; a ride I've been planning for 3 months. Not sure if I should try it anyway, but don't really fancy getting half way around and completel...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Was overtaken by an sports e-biker going uphill this morning, but managed to reel them back about 100m before the very top of the hill, but couldn't quite overtake before we went our separate ways.

Good to see more e-bikers out and about in the area - more people on bikes means less people in cars.

Re: Silly commuting racing

very off topic, but what system is that? That's exactly what I need right now. It's home-made. <geek> Ah, I've got similar monitors around the house, only monitoring though using 9 wired bme80 sensors and a RPI , but not running openhab just yet,. My OH wants something asap so was hoping something ...

Re: Modding SPD pedal/cleats to get more float?

I just lazy'ed my way out of this problem and bought a pair of the Click'R Trekker T400 pedals.

Not particularly helpful, but you might be able to get some click'r parts to fit onto yours?

Re: Silly commuting racing

Can anyone recommend a good dehumidifier, now the mild days are drawing in drying kit inside without a tumble drier takes ages and covers the windows in condensation and no i'm not opening the windows when its single digits outside. Extractor fan in the bathroom, controlled by two humidity sensors,...

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bike gear you've just bought !

Lake 303 boots. Well, ordered them, will see if they actuallly fit my feet... Wow, they aren't d1cking about are they  https://i1.adis.ws/i/washford/671614?w=637&h=403 Nah. I've been toying with the idea of buying some winter boots for a while, and having got through, on average, 2 pairs...

Re: Your rants here.

Stopped driving 25 minutes from home yesterday to have a coffee and a bit of fresh air. Felt silly stopping so close to home but I'd have felt really stupid dozing off so close to home. Don't feel sorry for that. you never know what those last 25 mins might hold, or if it will, indeed be 25 mins aw...

Re: Silly commuting racing

Meant to be in a meeting 100 miles away today that got cancelled 3 minutes before I was due to leave the house, so already suited and booted to head out in the car. Rather than change, drove to work for the first time in ages, and remembered exactly why - as I was overtaken constantly by riders I re...

Re: Your rants here.

Another contributory reason could be that losing your licence these days frequently means losing your job too. As a former colleague of mine found out. The exceptional hardship rule is so often played (and stupidly accepted) the risk of actually losing your licence appears so rare. https://www.bbc....

Re: Dynamo light not staying on

Just found this: is it still a problem? I'm wondering if by rehousing it inside the retro light, the internals of the retro light are reflecting back to the light sensor and therefore it believes it's daylight. Hi, I hadn't connected it up quite properly. All working great now. I do also think you'...

I've got my own, more "polite", write up to make, but it definitely feels like it's going in the right direction.

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bargains you've spotted!

Aldi doing bike stuff 29th September. The Commuter fluoro rain jackets I’ve had have been excellent vfm. Work stand, socks, plipper lights, lube all bargains. I'm slightly annoyed with them this year; no COB light packs and no replacement Fly-6 knock off :( Jobsworth Canopus from DFS in Rochdale, s...

Put the bent hangar back in line .

Really enjoyed the simple task, getting it 'just so', and the crisp, clean shifting again afterwards was well worth it.

Re: Your rants here.

Came off on the approach to a roundabout this morning (wet road and diesel), thankfully slow speed as I was slowing to a stop, rather than trying to slot in between traffic. Walked it off. Although rather a gentle drop, bike went expensive side down, appears to have bent the hanger, shifts are fail...

Not overshoes, but since the discussion has veered into "boot" territory, I have a pair of these: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/northwave-flash-arctic-gtx-winter-boots/ Cons: ⋅  very difficult to get on & off ⋅  smelly since they NEVER dry out completely ⋅  th...

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bargains you've spotted!

I'm slightly annoyed with them this year; no COB light packs and no replacement Fly-6 knock off :( The front/rear combo has a COB rear light https://www.aldi.co.uk/front-%26-rear-bike-light-set/p/017096282743300 Aye that looks a decent set of you need the front light as well, but I've got three fro...
