Re: Donald Trump

Attorney General Barr requests a meeting with Murdoch, the next day Shep Smith the most respected news guys and one of the few voices of reason and a critic of Trump at Fox, resigns. Fox moves even further to the right. :( Well this obviously sucks, but hang on? I thought Murdoch was supposed to te...

"Hi, I'm Nancy." This is a rather delightful example of how to interview a deceitful thug, the thug being Pompeo. He can't answer one question. https://youtu.be/dmndvT5H1Dk

Re: Donald Trump

I think it's quite appropriate to have someone on this thread who is willing to say anything for a bit of attention. I've turned him off now. The guy is just utterly rancid. Liberating isn't it? Yes. It's something I rarely do, but when it's either blatant trolling, or utterly lacking in intelligen...

On a different subject, I've learnt that toilet seats that lower themselves down slowly given a gentle push are very pleasing. £19 Ikea jobby.

Re: Things you have recently learnt

Even more thought provoking for me is that I was born less than 20 years after WW2. Me too by a couple of years. I'm guessing the country was still scraping itself back together when I came along. In fact rationing had only ended 3 years earlier... And now we have one in three children obese by the...

Quite so. Trolls press whatever buttons get a response. That's the whole point.

Denis Staunton @denisstaunton Irish side believes Varadkar/Johnson meeting has produced the basis for renewed negotiations between UK and EU. A tunnel could be in sight. There has certainly been an upward movement in the exchange rates on the back of this. I'm not going to go buying lots of Euros f...

Re: BREXIT - The Lady in the Reichstag, she say 'Nein'.

The Telegraph today is full of references to 'Clean-Break Brexit'... seems like that's being pushed hard to camouflage the absolute clusterfvck that it would entail... as if there would be anything 'clean' about it... yeah, right. Clusterfvck Brexit, more like.

They're the ones with dual nationality... yup, they are EU citizens, thanks to their German mother.

Re: BREXIT - The Lady in the Reichstag, she say 'Nein'.

How would you deal with it? I'd revoke A50. This would: Give us control of our borders (not in Schengen) Give us control of our currency (not in the euro) Give us control of our laws (with the UK veto) Give us the best trade deal possible (the one we already have) Simple. Germany Plus Ssshhhh.... d...

Re: BREXIT - The Lady in the Reichstag, she say 'Nein'.

This stuff with Merkel is just part of the current messaging. Every Brexiteer is hitting the same message. We have moved on a solution to the customs border, they've rejected it, this *proves* they want to annex NI and the backstop was a trap all along. It's going to be effective but it's nonsense....

Re: BREXIT - Boris' Last Roll of the Dice? - Corbyn Waiting in the Wings?

You should probably separate farmers and landowners in your analysis. The farmers don't make much money. It's easy to become a farmer, anyway. If you've got £1m, buy yourself a farm, work your socks off, and you might just make a small profit. Curiously, most people would choose other ways to inves...

Imagine that you start with a blank piece of paper, the Govt has spent all of it's money and has permission to borrow £2bn, what would you spend it on? ending fuel poverty? helping the homeless? investing in high tech industries? give it away to some of the richest people in (or not) the country be...

Re: Donald Trump

Donald is what the people want. Because he's right. Is he right to abandon the Kurds? If you’re Turkish then the answer is yes, however American reach deploying soft power or building consensus for shared goals will be severely weakened. No doubt the Saudis, Europeans, UAE, Japan will all be re exa...

Re: BREXIT - Boris' Last Roll of the Dice? - Corbyn Waiting in the Wings?

Food would be cheaper and better if we had no food import tariffs or quotas. Better? Please do tell. You're also ignoring other aspects of food production, notably that it's not something that people can do without, and the profound effect it has on our environment: you might not like the system th...
