Isn't this model now two generations old? Will only get cheaper until they sell out I'd have thought.

Re: This Made Me Cross

Don't say that, I don't think I could live with the trauma of someone throwing an apple core at me, in fact I can imagine telling my grandchildren about the awful time that such a terrifying thing happened to me. It's terrible that such awful things happen in the world. Note that I did clearly say ...

Re: Name and Shame your cr@p LBS

I hate being in a bike shop and overhearing sh!te advice being given to new riders looking for a bike, does my nut in. A couple of years back I heard a guy telling the sales assistant that he wanted a full suspension mtb. The SA replied, "you don't need a full suspension mtb to ride around here...

This bit makes sense.

But did you mean raising the seat by 5mm here?

Re: Chainset arm lengths

to 170 id raise the saddle by 2-3mm and see how it feels. I have three bikes all on different size arms (170, 172.5 and 175). The seat height (bottom of saddle to center of BB) varies by about 5-8mm between them all. Sorry if I'm being thick... But why would you raise your seat if you are shortenin...

Re: This Made Me Cross

Assault? Throwing an apple core at someone might just about qualify for a ticking off by a teacher in a primary school. Dangerous driving? I don't think it was mentioned that he was doing that, unless throwing the apple was being 'not in control of the vehicle', if you reported everyone you saw wit...

One other thing, their web site has a huge stock list. Is the shop really big or do they have a habit of taking orders for things that aren't in stock?

Re: Tweaks Cycles?

Yeah, used them several times with free delivery, only a bit slow sending out once. Your item is probably not in stock. Yeah, turns out one of the items is out of stock. Can understand them wanting to keep their postage costs to a minimum, but still annoying that I could have been running a sweet c...

Re: Tweaks Cycles?

Used them once. I ordered a seatpost and nothing had turned up after a week or so, so i rang them..... "We don't have the seatpost in stock and i don't know when we'll get stock". Great! No Email or phone call informing me of the situation, apart from that they're fine. I like your attitu...

And that is all that matters :D

To the OP, use flats, if you were confident with SPD's you wouldn't have asked the question.

Re: fogging goggles remedy?

Try washing up liquid neat, just get a small amount on a cloth and rub it all over the inside of the lenses. Use this when scuba diving and it works a treat. If they are double layered lenses (I have no idea), keep them indoors rather than in a shed/garage/car. If the thin layer of air between the l...

Would definitely change the handling, check with your local bike shop, they might have some loaners so you can try before you buy.

If you are in to steel, check out Cotic's offerings. A few of my mates love them.

Re: Product review - Solar Storm twin XML bike light

I have a couple of similar lights, one of which came from DX and they have been awesome. But after hearing a few stories I've always been a bit worried about the batteries overheating when being charged. This means that I won't leave them charging overnight or when I'm out. Any thoughts on this SS? ...

Is there much difference between a 29er and a 26er? What about full suspension bikes? I've always had hard tails. 3" Boom... boom... Try some out and see what you prefer. It doesn't matter what anybody else likes or feels comfortable with, only you. At £700 you're at a very low end for a full ...

Don't put off going to Swinley, all sorts ride there from complete novice to bloody quick. Just be considerate of other users and enjoy yourself. You can always use your brakes to ride within your own capabilities on the fast bits, well that's what I do. Just the 1 bike. I've got a 2011 C Class. I h...

Re: Confused about mountain bike prices???

I'd say there are a couple of issues. State taxes - Applied at point of sale and not included in the prices quoted, vary from state to state and are over and above their equivalent to VAT. As somebody else mentioned, price point is key. We do see Santa Cruz as a premium brand because they are expens...
