Re: Cycling Holiday - South Mallorca or Mainland Spain?

Also, how about Malaga, Almeria, which have the Sierra Nevada on the doorstep. If you want something a little different, but still challenging try the Algarve in southern Portugal. Flat along the coast and constant rolling inland with some great climbs (take a look at the Tour of the Algarve which t...

What sort of ideas do you want? Prices, recommendations? The Edge computers have been out for a long time so search for reviews online and all the info will be at your fingertips.

Re: Red eTap 11spd with mechanical disc or Mechanical Ultegra with Hydro Disc (8020)

Mechanical disk brakes are a bit crap imo. For touring & general riding id rather have hydraulic brakes over electronic shifting. This I would tend to agree. My summer bikes are both Dura Ace di2 and hydraulic disc braked. They are sublime (the shifting and the brakes). My winter bike is the ne...

Re: MACIV UST Yksion tyre bubbling

No, but you should take the tyre(s) back to the retailer where you purchased them, not try to deal with Mavic directly. The retailer is legally the entity that deals with warranty claims. Contact them or better still take the tyre into their retail outlet and ask them to exchange it for a new one. T...

Re: Should I insure my bike?

Imo Yes. I pay around £25pm for insurance on my £4.6m Tarmac and £1k Allez, along with all the personal, accessories and upgrades cover that my policy provides. For me it's a no brainer You have a bike worth 4.6 million. That’s some bike I would guess. lol, that made me chuckle  Fwiw, I'm with...

windproof to go over mitts when it is chilly
Is there any glove that would go over mitts? Don’t mitts usually go over gloves? Can’t see how fingered gloves could be put on over mitts.

Messerschmitt Me-109 "They still make Gripshifts? That would have to be flat bar 'cos no-one is going to fit those to the ends of drops these days, not since late 80s." Ya, they do. Check the net. Lots of posts on grip shifts. As far as drops are concerned, After 40 years I ride in comfor...

Re: Recommend Me Some Gloves and Overshoes!

I’ve gone through most permutations of gloves and overshoes over the years. I’ve settled on Dissent gloves, but ONLY the outer waterproof ones which I team up with Meraklon liner gloves (about a fiver). When it gets really cold (which is relative to individuals) I will add the DeFeet wool gloves be...

Re: 3x11: Road bike for struggling climbers

What a waste of time. Just get a suitable lowest ratio with a double and a big enough cassette and twiddle away up the hill. For all the extra hassle just to find the ‘right’ ratio it would appear you love changing gear constantly as the gradient varies by the odd half a percent. If your lowest gear...

Re: Assos Habu or Castelli Alpha ROS jersey

Add a pair of arm warmers then, still cheaper... I wear a thermal (long sleeve base layer), currently an Under Armour Cold Gear top, with a summer jersey over the top. This does me down to single digits, then I will add a gilet with a windproof front. When it gets close to zero I may add arm warmers...

Re: Cannondale Spidering Float?

Also, you should use loctite (think it’s 242) for the chainring / crank interface, Not sure about that. This guy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaYi4splh9Q says to use grease if you are likely to want to undo the nut again. Only use loctite for stuff you'll never want to undo. Just done mine - ...
