Re: Trousers for commuting

Shorts, add legs sub 10 degrees. Worked for me for 10 years, commutes between 8 and 16 mile each way depending on where I was living/working. Can't imagine wearing waterproof trousers.

Re: Toe Covers

Yep, I'll second the DHB ones. Been using them for years, last ages. I can't stand the faff of full overshoes (even though their not that much of a faff!). Don't like faffing. :-)

Cape Town...someone probably nicked it.

Allegedly the numbers or markers on toasters are minutes, not 'browness'.

and I'm sure he loved very much your visits every other day. Oh he did, especially Friday's when I'd take a couple of beers in and we'd sit chatting! The staff always turned a blind eye :D I used to scour the internet for old photographs of the town he was brought up in and show him a different set...

Re: Getting There

I lost my Mother 20 years ago, she was in her early 60's. It was quick, one week she didn't feel well, the next week she passed away. With Dad it was much more drawn out. When he could no longer cope 100% I moved him from his house he'd lived in all his life to a warden controlled flat just down the...

Re: Commuter Conundrum

Personally, I think i'd like to know if my ars* was hanging out. I could then ensure those bibs were binned and I didn't inflict that horror on anyone else. I don't think I could live with knowing about the nightmares and people waking up in cold sweats that I surely would have caused. When you're ...

Getting There

Lost my Father 2 years ago and 6 months prior to that I was visiting him every other day in his Care Home that I chose as it was nice and also just round the corner to my office. Due to this I was driving in more than ever, and after he passed away...well I just couldn't be bothered for a while. The...

Re: Commuter Conundrum

Is there an etiquette for this, do I zip past and tell him, "Buddy you need new shorts your bums on show" or just resist the urge to urge and pedal through. Would you comment on the clothing of someone you don't know if you was walking down your local High St? I wouldn't, therefore I woul...

Re: New backpack time

Another big fan of osprey backpacks here. I think their straps etc are the comfiest of all of the packs I've owned - and the air vent down the back makes it one of the best ventilated on hot days. The material doesn't look as tough as others, but I use mine mountain-biking and have spent many rides...

Re: Kids Christmas Presents

Just give him an Amazon voucher - is 4 old enough for knives yet? (I don't have children!). Can't give knives as a present. It's bad luck. Ok - we won't buy him a knife - although if we taped a coin to the knife and he gave it to us when he opened the present it'd break the bad luck bit .. (it's am...

My Daughter started college today.

What winds me up, her and all her mates wearing slip on sandals with white socks, thinking it looks cool....and calling them sliders.

Exposure TraceR (pulse mode) on the rear along with a small unknown light that I have there just in case the battery fails on the TraceR or the light falls off without me knowing. Re: New backpack time

I also have the Osprey, I thought it felt a bit light and flimsy but it has held up well for a couple of years now. I chose it for the hip and chest pockets for phone, keys and work pass to speed up departure/arrival times. It's pretty comfy and the external mesh pockets are handy for smelly/wet ge...
