Was not a great stage. Interesting. For the last 40 k is my.verdict . The bonus mattered. a Few surprises in the finale It was not a rubbish stage. His viewpoint has a nationalist bias and the Dutch did their standard lay down and capitulate when it mattered. *You can see how the phrase 'Dutch cour...

I just noticed that Richie Porte finished with Fuglsang, Landa and Bernal and is 1:07 behind Thomas so not out of it by any means. They are all in it. But Thomas has that look of rider who is going to ride away. .... Maybe an illusion we will see. Pinot is looking good Thomas built last year’s win ...

Re: BREXIT - Ich Bin Auslander

Two things I have noticed that have changed this week: - The remoaners are back to spouting their usual rubbish (the pips are squeaking  ) - Project Fear has been rebooted... (funny how it went away when May surrendered to the EU late March) Some things never change. Coopster, do you think you...

Re: May has gone - ding dong the utter, utter, total failure of a prime minister is gone

FT reporting that Tories are getting ready for a snap election this year. Keen to offload the toxicity of sorting out Brexit to another party or at least unload partial blame onto a coalition partner? I can see how that might pan out. "no, you go into coalition with the tories". "No,...

Re: BREXIT - Ich Bin Auslander

FWIW a decent sign of sovereignty would be to reciprocate an ambassador boycott, but presumably the U.K. won’t, as it is cap-in-hand to the same nation. Sovereignty has always been a false prospectus for Brexit. It's just handy for whipping up nationalist support. Indicative of current state of bot...

Re: NHS and Amazon

As per usual the loony OP views this from his own echo chamber rather than the real world! Technological improvements are what is needed to save the NHS as the service that we want it to be. Here's a simple example. imagine the time and cost savings that can be redirected to other parts of the servi...

Re: BREXIT - Ich Bin Auslander

This deal would then be put back to a referendum and Labour could even campaign against its own deal... While this is the new messaging being put out by Labour it is even more perverse than their current view  I'm more than happy to see Labour officially renege on democracy and become a remain...

Re: BREXIT - Ich Bin Auslander

DB's website says they have "over 8000" staff in the UK so the majority of those 18000 losses must be overseas. Yeah so the remaining 10 are split across the states, HK and Aus, hence London being heaviest hit. I know this is closer to your field than mine, but unless they are shut...

Re: The Lanterne Rouge Thread 2019 **Spoilers**

Surprise dark horse Simon Yates. Not usually considered a specialist at this discipline ,but his giro 2018 last gasp long range attack on stage 20 was notable so maybe he is developing as a lantern GC rider. Simon is saving his energy to be a mountain super domestique for Adam when the tour is in t...

Where does the divorce settlement sit in a clean brexit? Any divorce payment should be conditional on completion of a UK-EU trade deal. This is already the case, but the other way around. It's ok, he's an clown. Clearly a non payment of divorse settlement will not not only prevent a trade deal but ...

Re: The Lanterne Rouge Thread 2019 **Spoilers**

There should really be a slow lane, clearly marked, for these big sprint finishes. It would be safer than having riders drifting back through a bunch that are doing 70km/h and enable those watching the main lanterne competition to easily see who was attacking at 70mm/h. The penalty for stopping in ...

Re: BREXIT - Ich Bin Auslander

How can "clean brexit" be accurate when it is a meaningless phrase? No less meaningful than "hard Brexit" or "soft Brexit, all terms started by the losers. "Clean Brexit" is positive compared to the negative terms spread by remainers. My biggest criticism of the L...

Re: BREXIT? Soft, Hard or Scrambled

So many posts could have been quoted to demonstrate the stupidity of remoaners and the guff they were willing to believe to support their case aka 'Project Fear'. JLR's announcement today being the perfect example! Stevo has been proved right and again the 'kitten of cake stop' demonstrates why he ...

https://speedyhedgehog.com/images/stage-1-tdf-2019-profile.jpg The Tour de France tackles the famous climb of the Muur van Geraardsbergen or Mur de Grammont. It's also called the Kapelmuur, because of the chapel at the top. It's a climb which is a fixture on the Tour of Flanders. Will the days brea...
