Re: Tyre Recommendations

Thanks for the replies. Give me something to think about.

Riding wise it won’t be during the winter so don’t need anything to handle the heavy wet and mud of that.

Tyre Recommendations

Hi all Just wanting some opinions on good tyres. Been on Maxxis Ardents for a while now and while they roll good they’re not super grippy. My brother is an advocate of Maxxis Minion DHF and DHR but I think they may be a bit heavy duty for my riding (mostly local paths and trail centres). It’s for 27...

Re: SRAM cassette with XT

Cheers for the replies. I thought it would work. If I’d already bought a cassette I’d send the wheels back but as I haven’t and if it’s going to work there seems no point. At least with the sram cassette I will get a 10t cog.

SRAM cassette with XT

I’ve just got a new set of wheels, DT E1700’s from On One. They were advertised as having a Shimano freehub despite the pictures showing an XD drive hub. As it turns out they’ve come with the XD hub (despite the bag in the box saying they’re Shimano!). So, I’m changing from 10 to 11 speed anyway and...

Rear QR length?

Hi all

Want some new QR’s for the bike and was looking at some Shimano ones on the bay. They come as a pair but have different length rear skewers so was just wondering what length for a 130mm standard rear? Looking at Shimano’s website it says 163mm. Is that correct?

Rockshox XX XLoc Removal

I have a set of Revelation XX forks from 2015 and want rid of the XLoc remote (hydraulic) as it's just getting in the way and I don't like how it works. I want to get a new damper with a crown lock out and spotted the one below and wondered if it would work? https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;pr...

RS Revelation XX to Crown Lock Out

Hi all I have a set of RS Revelation XX (2015 I think) that have the hydraulic lock out remote. I'd like to get rid of that to get some room back on my bars and was wondering if there's an easy way to do so? I know it's quite simple for the cable operated remotes so am hoping it's similar for this. ...

Re: Non Boost Wheel in Boost Frame.

Wolftooth make a kit called the Boostinator. That includes a rotor spacer. I'm sure it won't kill many people.

This kit doesn't fit my wheels though unfortunately.

Re: Non Boost Wheel in Boost Frame.

And then when I get a boost wheel or hub the next best standard in axles and widths will kick in to make us all spend even more than we should really need to. The industry needs to chill out a bit and stop using us as cash cows! Anyway, been looking for a cheap boost wheel until I can get what I wan...

Re: Non Boost Wheel in Boost Frame.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. I’d read a few people had done this but wondered if it would turn into a death trap!

Proper annoying that I have to though. Not sure why everything has to be boost spaced apart from so the industry can squeeze more money from us all? But that’s a discussion for another day.

Non Boost Wheel in Boost Frame.

Hi all

Is there a way to fit a non-boost wheel (RaceFace Turbine, the original one, non-convertible) into a Boost frame? I wouldn't mind changing my frame but almost everything is now Boost spaced and I can't afford new wheels at the same time.

Light Bicycle Wheels.

I'm thinking of upgrading my wheels and have looked at Light Bicycle wheels in the past and just wondered if anyone has any experience of them? I've always shied away from the usual Chinese carbon wheels and stuff in general due to concerns about quality etc. but these look to be a lot better. I'm a...

Planet X RTD 80 Geometry?

I'm thinking of changing my Whyte Suffolk frame for an RTD 80 from Planet X. Looking at the sizing and geometry (and being very tall) I'll need an XXL. One thing that doesn't add up for me is the stand over height that is listed. It says it's 938mm which seems extremely high to me. I asked Planet X ...

Re: Propain Twoface

It's a 2015 so was cheap but I think this year's is only around €1200 so not too bad.

Might get a dropper at some point. Never saw the point until I made my first visit to Wales a few months ago.

Propain Twoface

So fancied a crack at this FS lark again so picked myself up one of these. Hadn't really heard of them but saw a couple of reports online and decided to go for something slightly different (and it was only £600 for frame, shock and Cane Creek 40!). It'll be built up with all the stuff from the Bird ...

Yeah, I had a look from the underside today and it does look like there's paint in there. I need to take it to the shop anyway so will get them to look at it.

It is from Propain in Germany so not really practical to return. I've contacted them so will see what they say. Just wondered if it could be paint in the thread or something?

Rear Post Mount on New Frame

All I've just got a new frame which I was putting together this afternoon. When trying to put the rear brake on to the post mounts, the top one waas very stiff and wouldn't go in all the way (using standard Shimano 18mm bolts with SLX caliper). Has anyone had anything like this before and is it wort...
