Re: do i really need a dh bike if I've got a 160mm endure bike

the most important points with buying any bike is.

1) can I afford it?
2) Do I want it?

if you can answer yes to both these questions do it..

question 3) do I need it? is irrelevant IMO

I'd say on the huge jumps not so much, but the biggest difference I've found is when its really steep and rough! But on the whole no...

Almost wish I had a shorter travel trail bike now I have a Dh bike.

Re: Llandegla!

Never ever spray penetrating stuff at bearings! just a way to limit the life span of them as it will break down the grease!

I like the old bits of Penhydd. love the Y wal its so fast. whites is ok. not done blade, and skyline when its fully open is a lot of fireroad but has some lovely classic single track and the end decent is so long your hands ache by the end its brilliant.

Re: New rider, new bike.. Upgrades?

I personally wouldn't bother with the fork, even second hand its a bit of a slab of cash. Just change contact points(tyres) and ride it till parts break.. then if you have to keep the bike replace them with nicer bits otherwise save and if you decide you love riding you will know what you actually w...

Re: What's a bikes main selling point?

Test ride and what I enjoy riding most!

Pretty much most components on disposable! so if it has some rubbish bits on that doesn't matter! most important thing is the suspension (as I ride FS) works in the way I like and the bike handles the way I like. the rest is just trimming!

Re: New rider, new bike.. Upgrades?

People will have varying opinions on this but my take is this. It's a good budget bike but its still a budget bike with 26" wheels, (nothing wrong with that but its currently going out of fashion like you wouldn't believe). I think the idea for me if you think of spending lots on a budget bike ...

Re: New or Old FS
