Re: Giant Anthem 29er vs Giant Trance 29er

You'll be fine with a 29er, I'm the same height ( and almost the same age minus a few years ) and I love 'em. You may need to buy a shorther stem and flip it into the negative rize position to get comfy. To be honest you wont find a decent new FS bike at that price, it will be full of compromises, a...

Re: schwalbe racing ralph evo dd pacestar 2,25" folding

DD are only available in 26" but you probably already know that. I'm running snakeskin 29ers on an Orange Gyro and a Kona Unit, love em, have a Rocket Ron on the front of the Gyro at the moment and it is noticably smaller in size even though their both 2.25's, haven't had a problem with the sid...

Re: Full suspension bike for 150kg guy

I'd have a look at something like the Kona Honzo. Konas handle really well and the wheels are tubeless ready, their even taped.
Orange is Selling a few ex demo XL Gyros if you check their site, I love mine, the standard shock tune is a medium so maybe fitting a firmer shock would be the way to go.

Re: Most important component

I dont think theres a single Best Component, just get a collection of reasonably good components on a good frame, Now I'll throw my Kona Unit into the ring here, you look at it and theres not much going on there, most people dont get it, yet it handles so well due to great geometry, however the mech...

Re: 29er Tyres for Stans NoTubes Arch EX Rims

I'm running these rims on my Gyro and love 'em, Fitted with Schwalbe racing ralph 2.25's and they blow up to a healthy size, stuck a rocket ron on the front but its a scrawny little thing compared to the ralphs. Have just stuck them on my Unit as well, no probs mounting them, just the last 150mm you...

Re: Kona Unit

I've got the 2014 model and I'd say its the sleeper model that everybody should be out riding but hardly anyone is. You'll climb faster and learn more about riding after 1 month on this than any other bike you'll ever own. A lot of people say ride a hardtail to hone your skills, nah this thing hones...

Kona Unit 2014 Freewheel

Anyone know if the freewheel on these bikes are serviceable and how do you go about removing them in the first place?? Got me baffled.

Re: knee pads: yea or nay

I've got a nice pair of 661's that I wear every now and then, I wish it were more often but they seem to wear away the skin just where the knee bends , that combined with sweat = It Stings  Will try applying chamois cream to the inside of the pads and see how that goes tommorow.

Love the look of these bikes. SLX brakes are great, equal stopping power to my XTR's, they just dont look as flash.

Re: Hope hub widths?

Are they Pro2 hubs with Pro 2 adaptors or Pro2 EVO adaptors, I had two sets of Hope Wheels and the adaptors couldn't be successfully swapped between them. Going one way the adaptors were ridiculously loose and the other way you almost needed a hammer to knock them in.

Re: Lapierre Zesty e:i shock advice please

Grease the seatpost so it helps prevent water ingress there and maybe a little silicone on the cables where they penetrate the frame, check the BB bearings now that they've been exposed to water might be time to replace them as well.

Love that bike, How good are Orange 29ers these days, just love 'em myself. Had a 2010 five and always regreted selling it and would have bought a 29er five but am toooo short so went the Gyro route instead and couldn't be happier.
Must run outside now and post another pic myself lol.....

Re: Orange Gyro Pro, Now with pics!!

Matt-r8, youv'e just had me Googling like mad, seems all Gyros are the same, rubber grommet on the way in nothing on the way out, mines an ex demo model and it had enough use to completely wear-out a set of rear brakepads before I received it and the hose looks unscathed so maybe its fine, wont stop...

Re: Orange Gyro Pro, Now with pics!!

A nice set of Stans Arch/Hope wheels with some 2.25 Racing Ralphs have found their way onto the beast this week and has lobbed off a kilo right there, that along with the carbon bar and seatpost and a 60mm turbine stem and its down to 12.95kg ready to ride, it was 13.98kg without pedals when I bough...

Have the same rims on my new Kona unit and they have the rubbery rimstrip installed from the factory!! so in a couple of hours I will give going tubeless a go myself, haven't had so many pinch flats in years.

Re: Racing Ralph TL tyres, what sealant to use

Thats what I thought, just browsed my lbs on line and their out so picked up some Schwalbe doc blue also manufactured by Stans so will give that a go. The Fenwicks I have here will now go in the rear of my Kona Unit as it uses standard tyres and Fenwicks apparently works a treat on them... Hopefully!!

Racing Ralph TL tyres, what sealant to use

I've got a pair a Racing ralph TL ready tyres and a bottle of Fenwicks airtight sealant but after a quick read it seems that Fenwicks arn't compatible with TL tyres but I'm not sure what the sealant will and wont do to these tyres, should I just get hold of some stans instead.
Thanks
