5 mins on the bus here (home to train station) is about £4 because they want everyone to buy day/weekly tickets. I'd rather run/walk/cycle.

Tickets bought in advance on the app for the bus company are cheaper but you have to buy them in 5's and I was about to when the bus turned up.

Re: Mech disc brakes on road bikes

I've just gone hydro on the commute bike and had to put tyres on with a bit of grip as the old ones were easy to slide with TRP Hy:Rd callipers.

Re: Your rants here.

Several work colleagues told me it was raining and that I was going to get wet on the ride home cause it was raining, I had my Gabba and Nanofle armwarmers so wasn't too worried. All good until 10 minutes into the ride when the rain started to wash the sweat from the helmet pads into my eyes which s...

Re: Your Anti-Rants here

Guy in work had a flat innertube despite it being filled with Slime, if Slime didn't do it's job then the hole(s) are big. Gave him one of my spare tubes and hoped the PF wouldn't visit me as I only had one spare and told the guy to sort it out tomorrow with regards repayment etc, TBH I was happy wi...

Re: Blocked IP

IIRC ther are various options available to mods for blocking IP address, one is to wildcard block IP addresses. They could block 87.55.xxx.xx rather than 87.55.123.45 if the spam was found to be coming from one particular country but there is always the risk of blocking genuine members IP addresses ...

Re: Thread To Tell Everyone What Fettling You've Just Done

R7000 hydro bits swapped onto the commute bike, only need to wrap the bars now to complete the process. When I say swapped, I took the fully working bled brakes off the better bike as they are working and ready to ride and the bike is ready to hit the road on Monday though I'll give it a quick spin ...

Re: Shimano RD-RX812 with SRAM XG 1150 casette?

Think you'll find the 10-42 cassette uses Sram XD driver to get the smaller sprocket so a new wheel/freehub will be needed, 11t is the smallest that will fit on a Shimano freehub body.

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bike gear you've just bought !

A pair of LifeLine Essential Commuter Road Tyre from Wiggle to replace the LifeLine Prime Armour Road Tyre I bought previoulsy, the reason for the change is the Armour road tyre has lost grip when braking and given the winter is approaching I'd prefer a tyre that has as much grip on the road as the ...

Re: Thread To Tell Everyone What Fettling You've Just Done

After I cleaned the drivetrain last week I used some dry lube I picked up as samples from the ExCel show last February and already the chain is screaming at me to relube. Is this something common with dry lube or didn't I use enough originally. This is my first experience of dry lube.

Re: Thread to tell everyone what bike gear you've just bought !

Major finger slippage tonight resulted in R7020 hydro shifter R7000 short cage rear mech SLX callipers BH90 hoses being ordered for the commute bike. Coming in at £351 which when Merlin are trying to sell shifters and flat mount callipers for £325 I think I've got the better deal. Tried the local sh...

Re: Your Anti-Rants here

After breaking the chain mid-ride on Thursday I had to resort to the bus and train to get to work, total cost for the 10 mile journey £1.20 :D The revenue inspector on the train didn't want to collect any revenue but no way of evading the fare on the bus for the 6 minute journey.

I'm running a Magene speed sensor on my spare wheel which I bought from AliExpress for the extortionate figure of £8, seems to be picked up quicker the original Garmin item but that might be cause of having a newer battery.

Aldi doing bike stuff 29th September. The Commuter fluoro rain jackets I’ve had have been excellent vfm. Work stand, socks, plipper lights, lube all bargains. I'm slightly annoyed with them this year; no COB light packs and no replacement Fly-6 knock off :( Jobsworth Canopus from DFS in Rochdale, s...

Rode to work, ended up wet (quelle surprise) and, when unpacking for the shower, realised I'd left my trousers home. Did that on Sunday with my boxers, as I was getting ready for work I was sure I'd put a clean pair out with the other clothing I change daily so gave it no more thought. Luckily I ha...

Re: Thread To Tell Everyone What Fettling You've Just Done

Cleaned the drivetrain Tuesday, chain in Fenwicks for a 60 second shake and scraped the crud off the chainring and had to change the upper jockey wheel as it was nearly round with no teeth left  Riding to work today and the chain is jumping at times. Swapped the new jockey wheel with a used on...

Rear hub issue sorted, went into the bike shop 2 two doors away and said what I'm trying to do and as cheap as possible then got chatting about other stuff and the guy said he had a customer looking for mechanical callipers. BINGO, I had draft listed the old HY:RDs on Ebay but not added any images y...

Re: R4720 - 5700 shifting actuation

Been thinking about this further and going 1x11 with GRX or R7020 but I've got a 10sp Hope hub so I'll need an 11sp MTB cassette cause the are dished slightly on the largest sprocket compared to the flat large sprocket on a road 11sp cassette??
