Re: 1 Lump or 2? Flanders Fortnight and the Road to Roubaix *Spoilers*

Thought it a bit bad that the TV coverage switched to adverts straight after the leaders had gone under the Menin Gate in Ypres.

I thought the director could have waited less than a minute to see the peloton go through.

....OK he takes a hand off and hits him, it's a red card in football. Whatever the rights or wrongs with this case, please please don't compare cyclists to footballers. How a footballer can feign injury to get another player sent off and still have the nerve to call themselves 'sportsmen' is way be...

Re: World Cup 2018

I think you have why England go out wrong. It will be down to cheating, diving dirty foreigners and referees*.... Maybe with should start at home by banning Sterling. Ok he got booked for diving against Nigeria but he should have been sent off. The commentary said 'he timed it wrong' No he didn't.....

Re: TDF 2017: Stage 4- Mondorf-les-Bains - Vittel 207.5kms *Spoilers*

As mentioned by Chris Boardman, for consistency a penalty should also have been given to Demare for impeding Bouhanni.

But of course that was never going to happen.

That would have robbed the TDF of a French victory.

Re: Which gps?

If you live in the UK buy a 50:000 scale Ordnance Survey map of your area.

Spread the map out on the floor and plan routes off that. Then go to Garmin Connect and build the route you worked out from the map. Then upload to the GPS.

Re: Saddle for 100+ Miles

I'm middle to late 60's (66 actually). I would say that if you can cycle up to 70 miles without much discomfort there's not much wrong with your saddle choice. I think any problems there may be would have manifested themselves way before then. Maybe your backside just needs more time to get used to ...

Maybe the local farmers should be encouraged to drive their tractors and muck spreaders over the cobbled sections in the days preceding the race.

Re: What went wrong?

Stage 20 Megève to Morzine last climb Col de Joux Plane. If remember correctly from the TV coverage it appeared that Geraint Thomas led all the way up. No one attacked. Now I know it was wet, and Chris Froome had a 4 minute lead, but only 2 minutes separated 2nd to 10th place in the overall standing...

Re: Wheel Bearing - One Ball Short....

Thanks for that. Good advice. Unfortunately I've already serviced the hub but may dismantle again and replace with new balls. However going back to my original post. Doubting myself I again stripped the bearing. I gave it another thorough looking at and there was no "lost ball" lodged insi...

That's the thing though, it hadn't fell inside the hub. I thoroughly cleaned and checked and double checked. There was definitely one ball-bearing missing.

Wheel Bearing - One Ball Short....

Serviced a Shimano LX Deore front wheel bearing this afternoon. It's begun to make an intermittent knocking plus other strange noises. On taking it apart I noticed there were 10 ball-bearings on one side but only 9 balls on the other. On Googling the Shimano manual it says 10 balls each side. Now I'...

Re: Millar and Boutling.

I must admit I'm surprised at how many people, particularly as who post here are reasonably well informed on cycle racing, haven't taken to Millar as a commentator. While I admit I like Kirby, I also like ALL the other commentators as well. As long as cycling in on television I don't care who the c...

Instead of complaining about the commentator, wouldn't your complaints be better aimed at British Eurosport for only showing 30 minute highlights of the Tour of Switzerland this evening.
