Re: Route to Paddock Wood from the City

Hey mate, I'm now down that way but not so frequently on here. If you're still interested I can probably help you with a route that way. PM me as it could be another year or so before I look on here again!

Re: Saddle swap

Hi, I've got a never ridden Fizik Aliante R3 off of my summer Canyon purchase to swap for an unused Antares VS. I swapped the saddle as soon as I bought the bike as I know they don't suit me. I can meet to swap, central London or north Kent.

Pad free seem to be becoming rarer. I got some good Casteli ones last year. Can't see them now but I think they were an earlier version of these: https://www.castellicafe.co.uk/mens/men ... ght-no-pad

Yeah, I think Black Friday for a Fly12 deal might be the best call.

Re: L'Etape

I did it this year. It was well run and it was cool to say you did what the pro's did (considerably quicker) a few days later. However, it was over priced for what you got, especially when you consider Flanders or the Maratona is around 1/3 the price for a similar style event. The Maratona included ...

Re: Winter Shoes

Another vote for Northwaves here. Whatever you get, make sure they're roomy. You don't want them to be tight around your feet with a thick pair of socks. That kills some of the insulation and you'll still get cold toes!

Re: Autumn Motivation - Ugh.

I've just booked Hell of the Ashdown as my motivation to get training for early season. Then its Tour of Flanders, then an alpine trip, then an Alps Sportive. Having something to train for definitely increases motivation to get out there for me!

Re: Camera recommendations

Duration - at least 2.5 hours, should give me enough time for the commute both ways, even with a longer ride home. What's it for - evidence including regular plates in case the worst happens. Not fussed about recording the ride for anything else. Mounting - bars. I have a Garmin, so maybe the virb i...

Camera recommendations

Not looking to start a debate on the pros and cons! I'm after a front and possibly rear camera for use at day and night. Ideally some commuting features would be good, eg auto recording in case of an accident etc. I like the idea of the Fly ones, but not the price. Does anyone have any alternatives ...

Thanks all. It was indeed easier on the way back, for both PS and E&C. Just need to sort out inbound and I'll be rocking and rolling.

New route - WTF?

Hey all, its been a while since I've been posting on here. Last time I moved house my commute shifted to the east side of London and the numbers of cyclists I saw dropped massively. I've just moved jobs and I'm now commuting into Victoria, today was the first ride on the new commute. It takes in Ele...

Re: Canyon - Waited 8 months for my order

Loving mine in Kerosene Red, I had it in time for the Etape. I think I might need a fit though as my bum was pretty numb after 6 hours, let alone the other 2 and 3/4! With £900 off, its a bargain.

Re: Etape du Tour 2017

I started in pen 6 so had no issues with the wagon. Mates started in 10 and 12 and were concerned but no issues in spite of taking over 10 hours too. The heat coupled with a route back loaded with climbing was always going to be tough if your fitness wasn't great and you struggle in the heat. For th...

Re: Canyon - Waited 8 months for my order

Just to counter the negativity, I've bought 2 Endurace's in the last month (upgraded from a SL to a SLX once the later went on sale) and the process has been swift and painless in both cases. The SL took 12 days to arrive, the SLX only 7. My only comment is that there seems to be a gap between the &...

Re: Locks....gone.

3 weeks to the day, no replacement lock. Emailed facilities this morning to ask and they've forwarded my email on to purchasing asking if a purchase order has been raised yet. Oh the joy of bureaucracy! Get them to agree in an email they'll cover the cost then simply buy it and expense the locks. I...

Re: Di2

I can go one better than forgetting to recharge the battery. I once set off on a ride and cursed my Di2 because it had stopped working. And then I realised the battery (external) was still on the charger in the garage  Fortunately I'd set off from home so just turned around and rode back (biz...

Re: Etape du Tour 2017

Hi all, good luck to everyone taking part this weekend, hopefully your training went well and you're now nicely in your taper. I'm down to start in the 7:42.30 group, anyone else on here in the same wave? I'm also hoping to do the Col Lautaret and then onto the south side of the Galibier on Friday a...

Re: Experiences of Deliveroo riders

I ride regularly around the back of Spitalfields Market. Lots of rider from both Deliveroo and Ubereats hang out around there, I assume as there's a lot of restaraunts in the area and Brick Lane is near by. The lights at the end of the road are slow to turn and I see lots of RLJ as a result. In my e...
