Does it matter that much? If its XC then I'd personaly go for 2.1, espacially in the wet if not smaller. TBH there isn't that much reason to go above 2" for XC.

Cheers thats just what i thought, but considering my smallest tires i have used for the past 3 years have been 2.5 what do i know.

They do say the Cove needs large tyres when they did the Handjob frame test a few issues back. 2.1 is probably enough though.

Basicaly your going to get more speed out of XC with smaller tyres. If its wet/muddy conditions i'd go down to something like a 1.95 as it cuts through mud to get to the hard ground underneath. Big chunky tyres just sit and spin on the top of mud. There also more effort to get up hills., which is why most downhillers use 2.5+

Well have just bought the 2.1s so hopefully they wil be ok. What issue was the hanjob test?

The 2.1" Nobby Nics are more like 1.9" when you get them on the wheel.

I had heard this, so with that and learning that the handjob is better with slighly larger tires i have asked them to swap the 2.1s for the 2.25, oh how my mind changes, because if the 2.1s are like 1.9s, then the 2.25 will be like 2.05s, so that should be ok, and still be small enough for (aggressive) xc.
