anthem for lighter faster xc, xc race.
trance more your all day trail bike. personally i would buy an trance but thats because i dont race. its irrelevant what i think, they both make great bikes. what do you want it for?

simon get the trance because you won't do racing and the trance will be better for what your going to do on it

this probably wont help, I have a trance advanced carbon bike and have just built an anthem team, with spinergy wheels, middleburns, xtr brakes, xt mechs and shifters, fox 80 terralogic forks and it feels just the the same as the trance with a little less travel.After one ride its difficult to say where they differ. It floats over the bumps nicely but suspect it wont be so good on the drops and small jumps. So if its trails you do, go for the trance it has to be more versatile.
