Chainrings and cassette change

Hi, maybe one for the bike mechanics out there. I've just recently bought a really nice Wilier Cento 1 SR. The drivetrain set up is 53/39 11/28. I live in quite a hilly area so I want to change to a 50/34 11/32. My question is; What effect will this change have on the chain length, can it remain the same, will it need to be shortened or will it be too short and I'll need to get a new one? Thanks in advance.

Couple more links probably.
But, I'd give it a go and be disciplined about cross-chaining.
Your indexing & B screw will need adjustment also.
When you need your next chain, get the required length.

Try it and see. Check with large ring at the front and large cog at the back in case you accidentally cross-chain.
It is likely okay as you have smaller rings at the front and larger cogs at the back, but do check.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Like what I said then.

Confirmation, no argument but, yeah. Except I doubt he'll need a couple of links.
