Saturday. Shattering Shady Shenanigans with Snooze and Sumptuousness

Morning all. A balmy -3

Lots of ice but I don't care. Post chemo rest day for me. Lotto snoozing to be had. Coffee when I've had enough.

Have a good one all.

    Morning

Hard frost overnight. Clouding over now with a breeze and set to be a bit milder.

    Far too cold for pedalling.

    Coffee...

    Afternoon

Freezing again here, managed a turbo session. Not sure what to do next as the cyclocross races are conspicuous by their absence today. Might take a stroll in to town to see if the other LBS has any winter cycling gloves.

Accounting in my second job, doggy walk, a touch of shopping and now back home to chiil (err, stay warm) in front of the fire.

What is this pedaling some of you speak of?

Oh and yesterday was a day of extremes. I chopped a few mm off the end of my thumb with a kitchen knife and then later burst my little toe by kicking the poofe.

I have no idea how to spell poofe..,

Ouch! Nasty. What were you chopping at the time?

Did similar a number of years back whilst slicing a yellow pepper for Fajitas. It was my biggest Gustav Emil Ern knife I had freshly sharpened. So sharp it didn't hurt for about 0.5 seconds after I did it. Bloody hurt then. Yellow peppers turned red peppers.

I don’t know whether this will ease your pain but yet again I managed to head butt the low doorway out of our bedroom. I suspect that I may heading towards the same sort of dementia as footballers at this rate. However mine will be late onset.

Evening all. Busy day today, did local parkrun first thing and it was -6 ffs. Then spent the rest of the day being dragged around car dealers by young oxo trying to find his next motor. Wouldn't be so bad but it's not got above -1 all day. Another day of the same tomorrow I suspect. Currently being subjected to stupid singing in weird costumes.

Was sharpening a knife with a steel once and as I slid the knife downwards, my protruding left thumb was over the edge of the handle.

    Lots of claret.

Hair acts s an early warning system. When you don't have any, you ain't got no early warning system.

The door way is about chest height, so this is one of the few areas where I have copious amounts of hair. But alas I got no warning.

Went for a bike ride for fun on the gravel bike for the first time in several months. Was -6 on Cannock chase, too cold for doggers.

Mud was frozen solid, nearly rattled my teeth out.

  • Managed to avoid injury today, bit of garden trimming, a Zwift, large tortilla for tea, log burner on. Had a can of Lucifer Stout I was given at Christmas , 12.4% and a taste between port and beer, don't think I'll buy another one 😀

Thinly slicing some garlic, we've got a set of Zwilling professional knives which are sharp as hell.

A blast from the past! Yes, I tagged a heap of people. Not as many respondents as I would have liked.

My dad chopped the tip of his thumb off with an axe as a 6 year old, diagonally through the nail, hanging on by the skin. His dad stuck it back on took him to hospital and they sewed it it up. All good, just numb with a crack in the nail. His dad had the bright idea that if he pulled the nail out with pliers it would grow back without the crack! Still has a crack across the nail 78 years later.
