Cheers Andy, think I missed this in amongst the Olympic fog.

A nasty crash near the end of Burgos today. TGH, Shaw and Tulett all DNF and Nairo who seemed to be (to put it fairly) 'at the centre of it' looked pretty bashed up too but continued.

Sep coming into some form with a solo mtf win at Burgos today. Not a hugely stacked field, especially after yesterday's crash but still a decent performance.

Jay Vine wins the TT stage at the Vuelta a Burgos. I didn't even realise he was racing again after being badly injured in that crash at the Basque Country, so I'm a) delighted he's back and racing and b) really impressed that he got a win.

    Top comeback result for JV.

Sep still just held onto GC for VLAB.

San Sebastián is a bit dull so far. Jose Been commentating solo in her best patronising tone is making for a hard listen too.

I didn't even realise it was on. Very understated build up.

Scheduling any other sporting event against the Olympics is brave

Breaking up a bit on one of the climbs with 40km to go. Sivakov is solo with a small gap with a group of 9 behind and another small group just behind. JA, Hirschi, Narvaez, Woods, Powless among the 9, no VLAB that I can see.

Interesting fact from Jose. San Sebastián is named after the patron saint who was called Sebastian. As they say, you learn something new every day. I’m almost yearning for Kirby!

    Hirschi wins from Alaphillipe

Spare a thought, I have been catching up with Norway and she’s commentated on that as well. It’s like an extended version of oral trivial pursuit.

Alaphilippe never tried to get on Hirschi’s wheel, which I found odd.

Aular of Caja Rural takes the Tour of Limousin from Zingle and Godon. Had it pretty comfortably to the extent he sat up and then had to give a bit of an extra push when he saw Zingle coming.

Tour of Poland looks all but over even though Ving the used to be merciless got his a$s handed to him on a plate by Tim Wellens.

I don’t think that stage had a km of flat in it. They rode it hard as well. Seemed like a tough day in the saddle.

I only caught the final 8km and wasn’t watching closely but it looked a decent race.

Very long stage at the Tour of Denmark. De Lie bridged to a front group and then went very long up the final climb (about 800m). It looked like Magnus Cort wouldn't get to him but it proved to far in the end with Cort catching and passing him, he also gained a small gap and takes the GC - nice little chat between them after they got their breathe back.

Hmm, Cort not given the second which seems odd as there was a very big gap between him and De Lie at the line.

Slightly longer stage in the Tour of Denmark for the group 1 members who were directed the wrong way......Danish stage winner was in group 2.

Burgaudeau takes a solo win at Limousin, left it all out there and had to have a lie down at the finish. Bit of an ugly, high gear slog to the line but it was effective.

I am going to put this here, as it's my home race. Another failure for our ridiculous new speed limit:

Surely it is not beyond the wit of the Welsh Government to provide an exception to the speed limits for all race convoy vehicles?

Pretty much the whole of the central London stage of Ride London was on 20mph roads. It's a failure of planning for a closed road event and joined up thinking, but not of the speed limit.

I can't imagine the Tour de France stayed within the 30mph limits in place on some Yorkshire descents did they?

As I said on the "Cheers..." thread, muppets.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

That was why we never saw closed roads motorsport on public roads in the mainland UK; (apart from the Birmingham SuperPrix/ the Jim Clark Rally) the Road Traffic Act needed to be suspended which required another 'Act' to get around it......which tended to be costly, and time consuming.

Now, it is possible, so I'm guessing the organisers didn't apply for dispensation.......

I assumed that closed road meant traffic rules don't apply. Is red light jumping ok?

Can highway maintainance walk on the motorway?

The reason the organisers have given for all the route disruption is that the peloton cars couldn’t keep up with the riders and so were unable to service them properly.

So, the speed limits in Wales do not apply to cyclists, just motor vehicles.
