Seemingly trivial things that intrigue you

Am I being unreasonable in thinking that it's a pretty silly thing to go for a ride in that kind of temperature?

All? Never entered my mind. I did give up on the climb though, descended (slightly fuzzy 😱), restocked at the support vehicle and headed straight to the hotel. A couple of beers were quaffed prior to real dehydration.
Again, probably not recommended. 😉

Hard to achieve on a bike. Repeating the same route or climb on Strava is helpful though.

Are you Captain Rum from Blackadder?

Argh.

Nope. I don't don't do hot weather very well so avoid going riding on properly hot days for that reason.

Stepping aside from the bonking chats, been there done that lesson learned, what's intriguing me tonight is 'am I going vege?'
Made an old school easy to make, have made this for years and years pasta putanesca type dish, recently been eating less and less of it, tonight gone 'meh, this is not for me'.
Looking at my freezer log, the meats are hanging about. Recent holiday break with friends, always fishy type dishes chosen in restaurants, no meats. When was the last time I shopped in local butchers? 🤔
I am still enjoying (am I?) making lunchtime type ham etc sandwiches. So can't be full vegan. I do grow and eat quite a lot of toms, peppers, cucumbers etc etc.
A new world order?

Do you understand that fish isn't a vegetarian menu choice?
People who don't eat meat but do eat fish are called "hypocrites".

One word that should stop you going veggie: Bacon.

Not if you eat enough.

Are you a hypocritarian?

Depends why. People who call themselves pescararians occupy an unjustifiable moral halfway house.
If you don't eat red meat for the same reason I escew cabbage, that's fine.

I do, even I've eaten lots of it. And fart a lot in the meantime. Mind you, the veggie meals they do at school are delicious, with lots of fiddly things I'd never do at home.

Game on eh!
i know over past several years I've been eating less full meaty type dishes, last time I had a proper steak? Dunno.
Used to make a lot of carbonnade flamande / beef in beer type dishes. Meat chunks, been a while. Freezer log shows minced beef, minced lamb, nothing more chunky and they've been in there for a while. Do use chicken rel frequently, stir fry or thai style or oven baked.
Maybe it's red meats? Is intriguing me though, just thinking aloud / online...

Chickens aren't vegetables.

Being vegetarian is like being teetotal. It won't necessarily make you live longer, it will just feel like it.

I was just reminding myself that the Telegraph really wasn't this awful. It wasn't.

Bowel cancer doctor guy said to my father in law that he has never seen a vegetarian with bowel cancer, and I think the actual data backs it up (as in, on average they have a lower risk of bowel cancer)

What about people without a sense of humour? Do they die young?

Jeepers, I wonder how they risk assessed that. This is like something from the Victorian era.

Maybe just me being tight but when you've made a reasonable outlay for the holiday and spent hundreds of hours training I am a bit reluctant to simply give up without trying. It could just as easily been cold at high altitudes but roasting in the valleys, you never know as per my post in the photography thread.
PS - That recent trip was the opposite. Started off 30C and sunny, finished 10C wind, hail, rain, thunder, lightning...I was just as mad for finishing in those conditions. 😉

I mean low thirties can kill you if you're unlucky, so 45 is just daft.

Good point. I didn't go all day until after the beers. I reckon I went through 10-12 bidons en route.

I once commuted back from Central London when it was 35C. Hard work, even with plenty of water had to take it slowly as I felt I was cooking myself from the inside out.
