Starting just one day after Paris-Nice, this year, Tirreno-Adriatico boasts a startlist that contains just about everybody who is anybody, (aside Catalunya bound, Bernal and Ayuso) who are competing in France.
Of note is the Jumbo super duo of Roglic and van Aert.

Note that the usual, final ITT has gone.

So Cav is doing Tirreno-Adriatico but Cees Bol (highlighted as his leadout man) is doing Paris-Nice.

Bol not really known for his prowess over 200km so unlikely to be doing MSR.

    WVA ITT fail.

Goes early in the rain but was slower than Nico Denz.
    Already down to third.
Weather forecast to clear for the later starters too.

    Surprised by Jumbo’s poor showing.
Italy not to their liking these past couple of days.
A few surprises in the top 10.

Irony highlight yesterday was Kirby complaining that Adam Yates talks too fast.
I think he took about 3 breaths during the final 20kms.

    LOL
Kirby caught out making stuff up about Sagan by Robbie McEwen.

So, of course Kirby agrees and seamlessly does a one eighty.

Cavendish has been sick apparently, so is mostly using the race to train.

Thank goodness for the "mute" button.... Kirby doing my head in, as usual.

It's got interesting - 5 JV riders in a group of about 20 ridden off the front with 10km to go

All came back together in the final 5 kms, then MVDP gave Phillipsen an armchair ride to the 150 metres to go point. Sprint was never in doubt. Bauhaus took second, with Girmay sneaking through on the barriers for third.

Usually MvdP is way too surgy and burns out the last leadout man behind him (and in front of Philipsen), but today he was really incredible all the way to like 3-4 km out where he surged perfectly to divebomb corners and kept great position throughout.

Not entirely sure why the Bahrain rider took MvdP and Alpecin all the way. Might have been better to bail earlier even if your sprinter is on Philipsen's wheel. Leaves Alpecin a man short with nowhere to go.

Wout takes out Pidcock and immediately goes over to check on him and apologise. Not sure I've ever seen that before. Pidcock seemed to come off slightly worse.

Looked like Pidcock trying to drift back through the middle of the peloton to me.

Reaction suggested WVA felt it was his fault.

I love the idea anyone could have won other than Roglic on that finish.

Roglic doing what Roglic does to win, thought he'd gone too early but was possibly just holding his position before letting the Cofidis rider lead out.
