Well that match got more interesting the longer it went on. Oh well. At least les Bleus didn't go home after the 1/4 finals. #ABE1

How so? Argentina were much the better team. Fair play to France for staying in it but the Argies had their number.Dorset_Boy said:Cheating wins.
Brilliant final to watch as a neutral0 -
Only a purely footballing level it has been a fantastic tournament, finished off with a fitting final.
Some great games throughout and wonderful goals. Most teams played exciting, attacking football.
The referees have been mostly excellent - the games have undoubtedly been helped by a willingness to let the game flow and the refs not being too fussy.
I do wonder if the mid-season timing has helped - we've seen the players at their peak rather than jaded after a long season.0 -
Yep, great to watch given I wasn't too fussed who won. Back to the PL in just over a week..."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

On balance, Argentina have improved throughout the tournament, and last 15mins aside, were the better side today.
Whilst not an Argentina fan, can't begrudge Messi his World Cup win. At 35 I thought he was past it but still had enough left to drag his side over the line.
Any Messi v Ronaldo debate can at last be put to bed.0 -
